don't forget the complaints from fans that expect to sit on the infield dirt for 5 bucks... Met fans will never be happy...ever. It's really quite sad

MetsBlog.com : Opinion: Citi Field will Play Big, for now

yep...no need to over think this game. both teams play on the same field. The only difference, between the winner and loser, is the way they pitched, fielded and/or hit the baseball.

yep...if you can hit those lines or alleys, you can run forever. Homers might be down, but I think runs will be a plenty. Also, there's no way Sheff and Murphy can be on that field at the same time unless Beltran is provided with an oxygen tank.

MetsBlog.com : Opinion: The signing of Gary Sheffield

I'm evaluating Sheffield as a role player/spot starter vs the others in the same capacity respective of what they get paid. Simply put, Sheffield off the bench, for 400K, is a better, wiser option than either of the others in my opinion

I'm evaluating each solely on their value to this team. Sheffield, as a bench player/spot starter, is more valuable to this team as Marlon Anderson or Nick Evans in the same capacity.

To me, it's simple: Sheffield > Nick Evans Sheffield > Marlon Anderson I really don't see a downside to this deal

MetsBlog.com : Quotes: Manuel, Minaya, Beltran on Sheffield

"‘across the board,’ ‘this guy is a very good teammate." I think the belief that he's a cancer and a hindrance to chemistry, is 99% fan generated. Fans love to talk about clubhouse chemistry. Clubhouse chemistry, grit and playing with passion...which are all, apparently, obvious from a barcalounger

I love when fans talk about clubhouse culture and such. Anyways, lets try to assume that Sheff won't come and poison this clubhouse to the point of a 100-120, perhaps even 162 loss season, and look at what he does to the bottom of this order. Simple question: Are we better with Reyes, Murphy, Wright, Delgado, Beltran, Sheff, Schnieder/Castro, Castillo OR Reyes, Murphy, Wright, Delgado, Beltran, Church/Tatis, Schnieder/Castro, Castillo ????

Give me Murphy as well. I don't think this move is to replace a Dan Murphy type. I thinkn it's great insurance in case the kid, or Church, cannot handle the wear and tear of a 162 game season. It's low risk from the salary standpoint and high reward from the standpoint that the man can flat out rake

i don't understand why people are so upset about this. The clubhouse stuff is overrated and Sheff's problems, in NY, were not with his teammates, but rather, George Steinbrenner. In fact, if you read anything remotely credible or speak with folks that know what they're talking about, they will debunk most of the "sheff is bad in the clubhouse" nonsense. Anyone slating Daniel Murphy in for 600abs is a fool. It may happen, but a 450 ab increase is a lot to expect from the young man. Sheff is a low risk, high reward signing. I like it
