Big Hollywood : Stewart Eviscerates Herman Cain, Trump Cries Racism

What do you mean? You have Limbaugh and formerly Beck, two very, very funny comedians, who eviscerate Obama all the time. Those two are hilarious; nobody can compete with them. Oh, wait, I forgot about Ann Coulter. She's actually my favorite; too bad she doesn't have her own show instead of just making guest appearances on Bill Maher and Hannity. She emits knee-slapping commentary all the time.

Big Hollywood : 'Dirty Jobs' Host Mike Rowe Not Impressed By Obama's Class Warfare

Sure, you saw hundreds of teachers in Wisconsin, but that's because that's where the protest was occurring against Walker. You'd expect to see teachers at a protest regarding having benefits taken away from their profession (and I'm not saying it's right or wrong about the benefits - I'm just saying, you'd expect people who don't like having benefits taken away, to go and support themselves at a rally). There are hundreds of thousands of teachers, though, that you didn't see. BTW, you are a great example of why our educators need to be paid appropriately for educating, shaping and preparing our youth - the ones who will be responsible for keeping America the great country that it is. It is one of the most important fields that needs more resources to attract the cream of the crop instead of the bottom of the barrel teachers that you must have had. Your teachers must have been paid peanuts so didn't care that his/her students didn't learn proper punctuation and grammar. The system itself is broken and needs reform. Kick out teachers who are bad, but gosh darn it, you need a good salary to attract the kind of people who would get the job done. I would never have gone into teaching because the pay is such crap. A lot of other folks who would be fantastic teachers, aren't, also because of crappy pay. And another BTW - let this serve as a reminder to you not to forget to take your medication. You're welcome.

I disagree that they are not noble professions. There are great, great teachers out there - please don't torch them all because you've seen a few vocal ones making their cases. And to say that those who risk their lives for us are not noble - that's just crazy talk, my friend. How many of the people you work with give their lives trying to save others?

I love Mike Rowe. Yup, he's handsome and has a great, radio-worthy voice, and his show is so interesting and, indeed, like Nolte says, shows a great deal of respect for those workers who do the kinds of jobs most of us would turn our noses up at. But those jobs need to be done, and those workers perform a great service for us, and we should admire them instead of wrinkling our noses at them. His post offers a very thoughtful, intelligent, rational view of what is going on in our country. While I may not agree with many Republican viewpoints, Mike's reasoned presentation of his views would make a lot more Democrats give pause to their own rhetoric and re-think why Republicans want what they want. I wish more people would be this calm and rational in presenting their opinions - on both sides. So much more could be accomplished if we didn't butt heads so much; but instead, actively listen to one another and participate in civilized discourse (I'm starting to hate that term, but its meaning is apt). Bravo, Mike.

Big Hollywood : 'Zombie' Review: Italian Cult Classic Still Has Bite

I'll have to take another look at this movie. I started watching it once, but it seemed too amateurish to me and I cut it off about 1/3 of the way through. And believe me, I like some amateurish/low budget movies. My all time favorite zombie movie is the original "Night of the Living Dead." Second favorite is "Day of the Dead." I remember watching "Night of the Living Dead" on a Friday night "Creature Feature" as a little girl. All by myself. Yes, I had a deadbeat dad. It scared the living heck out of me and created a lifelong zombie fighter. I've moved a lot. It's been tough having to re-zombie proof all the time.

I agree wholeheartedly with the 2nd half of your article, but not the 1st half. First, "Many people love the show. Can all these people be wrong? Yes, and it gives me great pleasure to say so." C'mon, an opinion is an opinion, there is no right or wrong. As a journalist, you should be aware of and promote that. Rick wears his uniform because it's a tie back to a time when there was still a civilized civilization. It's comfort clothing. Rick knows he doesn't have all the answers - that's why he was praying for help; a lot of people pray only when are in trouble. Of course his wife is going to stick up for him as far as leading the group. Andrea clearly was suicidal, and giving her a gun at this point in time - not a good idea. Agreed they should all be trained. The writers clearly say the series is more about people than zombies, so don't complain when a long period goes by without zombies appearing. You complain about "liberals" stereotyping religious and conservative and southern people, yet you do it yourself while contradicting yourself..."there aren't a whole lot of Southern folks who don't know how to shoot, though this band seems nearly entirely urban..." There ARE a whole lot of Southern folk who don't have a clue about guns (me being one of them). You're promoting that stereotype, tho. And are there no urban Southerners? There are. You also identify the "redneck" as a true Southerner - stereotyping again. You're right about the stupidity and holes in the plot. Yet, there was still a record amount of viewers for the season premier. Those of us who don't want to find, and be outraged by, political undertones in everything they are exposed to, just want to be entertained. And if you don't agree, well then, stop watching it!!

Big Hollywood : Common's Cop Killers: What Jon Stewart Failed to Mention On Last Night's 'Factor'

Well, it's not like he tries to hide that he's Jewish. He certainly seems proud of his heritage and supportive of Jews in general. Probably changed his last name for a variety of reasons...resentment towards his dad, easier to pronounce, whatever...but not because he was trying to hide that he was Jewish.

Big Hollywood : Jon Stewart v. Bill O'Reilly: Common's Open Opposition to Interracial Relationships Ignored

Wow, you probably think you don't have a racist bone in your body. You comments certainly imply otherwise, however. How do you know that nearly no African Americans in America are descended from slaves? Just curious. And if you think that African Americans have no right to be sensitive to racism...geez, just because the Jim Crow laws aren't in effect anymore, does NOT mean that racism is not alive and well in America. AND, you've never ever met a white person who's called a black person a racial slur to his/her face? How do you know this? Do you ask every single white person you've ever met, "Hey, have you ever called a black person a racial slur of some sort?" Just because you may have never witnessed it happening, sure as heck doesn't mean it doesn't happen. You are either extremely naive or extremely ignorant.

I agree. I also have people in my family who have/do suffer from depression. One uncle committed suicide, and my grandfather was committed to a mental health facility for a while. My biological dad suffered from depression, and it cost him his family and, ultimately, an untimely death. I also think it's much more prevalent than a lot of people realize. I, too, hope this movie helps to bring more awareness to this disease.

Yes, it is, which is why it's so hard. A lot of people think that those with bipolar disease are just acting out, but they really can't control themselves unless they find some kind of balance in their medication that works for them. It can take a long time to find a combination of medications that works best for the person.

Yes, it's true that a great deal of creativity comes out of those with bipolar disease. Those who likely had it include Van Gogh, Sylvia Plath, Jackson Pollock, Mark Twain...the list is long. I worked closely with someone who had bipolar disease. I can see why so many go off their meds, especially lithium. She was like a zombie. It was really sad.
