KyleRingo (from Twitter) Just spent time on the radio in Baton Rouge talking about the possibility of Les Miles coming back to Boulder. Interesting possibility. Looks like Ringo is trying to jump on the Miles rumor.

From ESPN's Blog. Last week's loss by Colorado is the first time since 1986 the Buffaloes have taken a two-score lead at home and lost. Glad to see you adding to your "accomplishments" Hawk. Chin up the passing game will be dialed up for Cody to try and get the record at CU.

Buffzone.com: CU sports from the Daily Camera : Woelk: Foundation has improved, but CU\'s next step is vital - Buffzone

From the DP. The University of Colorado Buffaloes must go back to the future with Bill McCartney AND Dave Logan. But, first, Dan Hawkins has to do the right thing this week: announce his resignation, effective at the end of the season. Undeservedly, Hawkins was given a fifth season in Boulder, and it has been proved beyond all reasonable doubt that he cannot recruit satisfactorily; cannot get the best out of the players he does have; cannot make sound judgments in the hiring of assistants (and is too loyal to those even he knows are not qualified, and admits it privately); cannot coach on game day adequately; cannot win on the road and in the conference — anywhere; cannot interact suitably with alumni, students, parents of players, the coaches in the other sports at CU, the administrators and the media; and cannot continue to represent this state or this school in football. Hawkins will be fired. However, if he agrees to resign — and take a reduced payoff from the approximate $1.8 due (since he got a lottery-like million bucks for this season) — Hawkins and his son should be permitted to finish what they started. Then, they can go off and coach together at some small college. Bohn, glad to see his bad hire go, already has put together a list of potential successors and currently is researching all the candidates. McCartney, 70, indicated to me months ago he had lost faith (maybe not the correct word choice) in Hawkins, and no longer could support him, and would be willing to come back to the position because he had belief he could rebuild the crumbling program and his wife, Lyndi, who has been seriously ill since before McCartney retired from CU (which was one of the reasons he stepped aside), had been given a "miracle" positive prognosis by her doctor. Logan, 56, indicated to me a year ago he long has been interested in coaching at his alma mater and he never thought much of Hawkins. What if McCartney were named head coach and Logan the assistant head coach? McCartney could put the Buffs back on track in the Pac-12 next year with his astonishing recruiting ability and college football wisdom, and Logan, who is familiar with every quality high school football player, could serve as the understudy (and offensive coordinator). When McCartney decides to step down, Logan would step up. Hopefully Woody, Hopefully.

Buffzone.com: CU sports from the Daily Camera : CU faces Major setback - Buffzone

From the DP. You can tell the pressure is getting to Colorado coach Dan Hawkins, who’s 3-4 and in danger of a fifth straight losing season. His answers on Big 12 weekly Monday conference call are getting shorter and shorter to the point where some are merely monosyllabic. Take this Monday’s. He was asked about Baylor tailback Jay Finley and if also having dual threat QB Robert Griffin III makes it difficult for defenses. “Yeah,” Hawkins said. The reporter said, “Can you expand on that a little bit?” “You had the right quote. Use your quote.” I asked him if he’s worried if defenses will surround the line of scrimmage as Texas Tech did and dare his son, Cody Hawkins, to throw without Tyler Hansen’s running ability as a threat. “We’ll see. I don’t know.” Hopefully he has had enough to quit... wishful thinking.

From the DP. Cody Hawkins said after the game: "You have a team like Oklahoma ... they have great athletes and they execute each and every week. We know we have the athletes; we just have to work on the execution because we know we can compete with anybody in the country." "work on execution" takes the place of "clean up a few things".

From the DP. Kiszla wrote...The worst problem with Colorado football is not coach Dan Hawkins. The No. 1 problem? His players. They can't score. "Our day is going to come soon," CU quarterback Tyler Hansen vowed this week. Don't count on it. Please correct me if I am wrong but, doesn't recruiting and assistant coaches who recruit players all come down on the head coach? Hope for the best beat the Raiders!!!!!!!

Buffzone.com: CU sports from the Daily Camera : No. 24 Missouri shuts out CU Buffs Colorado special teams struggle Big 12 opener - Buffzone

Just when it looks like there is some momentum they get shut out. Yes they are 3-2, but there has to be a change with the coaches. GOOD coaches can adjust enough to make up some ground or see a difference in the game. Good job defense to bad you didn't get much help. Maybe I will wake up from this Hawkins nightmare sometime soon...
