Thanks for this! I think a little bit of my anxiety stems from the fact that we just don't know each other so well yet! Once you know those routines and know it's not serious, you can just do the silly thing and get it over with so you can get back to bed. :)

I'm not sure it's sadness, I think that's probably just my human bias talking. Your cat (and your patience) cracks me up!

Thanks! This is what I've mostly been reading as well. It will be hard but it will be worth it. Hopefully she will quickly settle into a routine of finding a cozy place to settle down, or at least do her own thing while we sleep. I'm sorry about your aging kitty! It gets hard once they start to hit their senior years - my parents have a 15 year old as well who needs a lot of extra love and attention. He sounds lucky to have you!

Thanks! I think we will eventually let her into the bedroom, but I am worried for the moment that she will keep us up all night meowing and poking around. If your little kittens can handle the alone time I am sure she will learn to adjust too :)

OT comment for any Toasties with kitties! I'm looking for a little advice. My partner and I just adopted a cute little 1 year old Calico kitty yesterday and the adjustment period seemed to be going pretty well until about 10pm last night - then it turned into a lot of meowing in whatever apartment rooms we were not in and general noise/sadness. I ended up sleeping on the floor with her in the room where we set up her litterbox and food. I was too concerned she would be distraught at being left alone today, so I ended up not going in to work. I feel like I already know the answer - she just needs time to adjust - but I really need to hear it confirmed by some more seasoned kitty owners. Has anyone had issues with nighttime meowing? How did you handle it? Did you worry about leaving them alone for so long while they were still so new to the situation? I'm generally not an overly anxious person, but the responsibility of caring for this little being who can't tell me what is wrong is sort of getting to me!

Oh man, yes. I was just thinking about recommending the H&M ones and then you reminded me of having to cut the enormous tag booklet off. No thanks! I'm definitely going to check out Joe Fresh next time I'm in need.

Yes! I am actually really looking forward to hearing all of the little nuances of live performance because I know it's going to be really different from the perfection of the soundtrack, even just from the regular cast.

Oh my goshhhhh this happened to me a couple of months ago, except mine was a mouse - ever so SLIGHTLY less terrifying. This one also left of his own volition after my boyfriend tried to flush him a couple of times, which he was not very happy about. I live on the 5th floor which seems quite high up for a place to just wander into(??) Basically I just can't think about it too much because how else would I ever use the toilet!?

Same here - I spend probably an inordinate amount of time staring at the online calendar and clicking just to browse around at any potential open seats in the near future. I am NYC based, so travel isn't an issue, but I've recently had an even higher increase in my student loans payments and just can't quite justify the prices, even if it's $450 to sit in the higher sections. BUT I WANT TO SEE IT SO BAD!

I have a feeling maybe it's just a few rooms split into space for multiple people - basically just a glorified dorm? Or maybe not all the people pictured live there?? I have so many questions. Once when apartment hunting in Queens my roommates and I were presented with a PANTRY that was being advertised as half a bedroom, so really anything is possible in the NYC rental market.

The Toast : Beauty Work: Lessons in Ballet

Thank you for this! As another long torso-ed, formerly aspirational ballet dancer, this rings really true to me. I tried going back to ballet a few years ago as an out of practice adult, boy was it hard to reconcile the ways my body had changed in just a few short years. I pulled more than a few muscles because of over-exertion. If I went back again I would probably sign up for an easier class just to make sure I don't push myself so hard to try to be that 16 year old again. There's still something really relaxing to me about just spending a good hour and a half just working singularly on moving your muscles in just the right way, listening to the music and remembering combinations - everything else just falls away.
