Worldwide cases have dropped by 50% in the past six weeks and are now at the lowest they have been since October. We have a vaccination that prevents serious illness and hosptilisation even against the south africa variant.

The lockdown needs to start easing now. It's also time to drop the ridiculous red list hotel prison policy given it is completely ineffective- 8000 lorry drivers a day and airline crews are allowed in with no checks so we will never keep variants out of the country.

Based on the current logic being used we'll be facing lockdowns every winter next to stop people dying of flu.

Based on the current performance of this government we'll no doubt have a lockdown next winter for the flu to "protect the nhs"

How about dealing with the scandalous cost of public sector pensions and removing the triple lock on pensions before increasing the tax burden (which is already at record highs) further

Power is clearly going to Matt Hancock's head. The idea that someone would be imprisoned for 10 years for lying about where they had been on holiday (longer than rapists receive) is ridiculous.

We currently have a vaccinne that has been proven to stop hospitilisations and severe illness even for the South African variant. Protecting the NHS was supposedly the only reason for the lockdown and the current vaccine meets that aim. Hospital rates and infections have dropped massively.

If you follow the latest logic we will never get out of any lockdown as the virus will continue to mutate regardless of the government closing the border.

It's time to reopen the economy, and start rescuing the travel, aviation and hospitality sectors.

The government is now destroying what is left of the travel, tourism and aviation sector for no reason

We have a vaccine that will stop serious illness and hospitlisation, even for the south african variant. There is no reason to strengthen the border at this point.

Just roll the vaccine out and remove restrictions as was promised. We now have the threat of 10 year prison sentences and ever more restrictions being announced. The popularity of lockdown measures will quickly evaporate as more and more people are vaccindated.

The vaccination does stop people from developing serious disease or requiring hospital treatment even for the South African variant.

As such it will do its job of protecting the NHS and there is no reason to use this as an excuse to extend lockdowns further

A fairer property tax would be to have capital gains tax on all property sales like the USA (with deductions for improvements and a generous allowance).

Selling property is the one time people make money without lifting a finger and paying tax at that point should feel less painful.

Last time I checked the UK had four times the number of excess deaths as Germany. Perhaps a better headline would be UK government incompetence in managing the pandemic results in an extra 80,000 deaths over Germany?

Mortality figures are easily compared by looking at excess deaths over the same period in previous years which ensures that differences in Covid reporting techniques are excluded

The UK's excess deaths are 4 times higher than Germany's

Adjusting the programme to deal with any special interest group will just add complications, cause delays and lead to even more vaccines being thrown away at the end of the day

Age is the biggest factor in determining risk so the programme should just continue working down the ages even once it gets to 50.
