If you are like me, then you HATE to fish. You love to CATCH fish. I have never caught so many fish as I do when I go out fishing with Bear. The last time we went fishing together (a few weeks back), we caught 45 fish. So much fun!

Portland Business Community : Chambers Of Commerce, Are They Worth the Time & Money

Great input Frank. I disagree with your statements, but sure glad you took the time to share your views. Chamber events are great for putting faces to names, but the words we speak at the chamber is NOT searchable on the internet. Unless your chamber is taking dictation and posting every word on the net, I'm pretty sure Bear's points are correct. Blogging takes less time, the article is indexed forever, and you are able to make better connections with potential customers...

Business Blogging : Twitter Kick-Start Plan

Yes you can teach an old dog new tricks! Portland OR By Frank Ryan Wow what a great service Ed Bejarana provides! In just two days my new site, Twitter/ franksfriends, com went from zero followers to over 1000 and more arriving as each hour goes by. This is great to help me build my business and make important business and social connections in the marketing and advertising venues throughout the local, regional and national marketplace. It helps me to sell advertising and serve clients far and wide! I am a senior business owner and am also employed by a major media company in Oregon State. I sell advertising to small, medium and large accounts for the NW Senior & Boomer News. I knew I needed to discover the value and the “how to” on blogging and business building through Twitter, Face Book, Linkdin and other social and business blog sites. Ed became my lifeline! Just this morning I got a call from my blog line via my twitter account. I have had excellent results with business folks calling for information on NW Senior & Boomer News and about advertising requests. As a member of the East Portland Chamber of Commerce I met Ed, and he became my internet teacher, mentor and guru!! Ed has patiently taught, cajoled, and assisted me in the perils of teaching an senior dog new tricks. I recommend Ed Bejerana of Zenith Exhibits and suggest you write Ed today at Businessblog.net and get a very special treatment, Learn at your pace with great resuts. This old dog recommends Ed Bejerana if you need an affordable blogging coach or site built for your personal or business needs. Call today, you will be glad you did.

Portland Business Community : Swine Flue - Is It Impacting Your Company?

Hey Bear, Actually, the number of people who die from the flu (in the US) every year is over 36,000. However, there are some disputes over the actual number because "the flu" is is usually NOT the cause of death, but complications brought on by the flu. Because of my Asthma, I worry about going to public places with large crowds. So the Swine Flu has modified my habits a little. I shake fewer hands at chamber meetings, avoid shopping malls during busy hours, and touch fewer items on the shelf at the store.

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : Vent through May 13th

Whew. Just finished the shoot out between ACORN and Glenn. I put off going back to work--just so I could witness it live. Virtual standing-O Glenn. You the man. The normal talking points from those on the left when getting their butt kicked is to deflect with personal attacks. The way you treated your guest should be used as a training video for ALL future conservative speakers. I believe is the greatness of America and feel eventually those on the left will face the anger of every American. While the elite left wants to try and make fun of Joe six pack, the truth is we out number them. Seeing you perform a verbal tap dance on their idiocy will inspire the quiet majority to speak up. Keep up the great work Glenn. Please!

I have been running some tests these last two weeks and using Twitter I have seen a three fold increase in web traffic. Bounce rates are right around 50% and average time on site is just under 2 minutes. Twitter is a viable business marketing tool. Use it as a direct mail marketing tool.

Portland Business Community : How Cars Have Changed

One of the few things my dad and I did together was restore two 1956 Chevy's. His was black and white with a 256, mine was red and white with a 302. I was obviously spoiled because mine had power brakes, power steering and an air conditioner. Now I wasn't the original owner (like you and John were) but there was nothing better than driving my girl around in that car! Sure beat trying to make out in a Bobcat Station Wagon. Thanks for the memories.

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : 4/15/09: Pirates Attack A U.S. Flagged Ship, But Fail

A Dear friend of mine told me yesterday that he feared the retaliation from the Pirates because now "we struck first blood." I give the guy a pass (somewhat) because he is a devoted liberal, but I asked him what do we need to fear when we kill those who would try to harm us? While he couldn't answer the question, his comment shows the normal thinking of the left. They are swayed by fear. The American spirit is hit back when hit. Seeing Beck at the Alamo (right now) makes me think back to general Huston kicking butt. The left does not understand the American ideals so they coward in the corner when confronted by violence. True Americans know how to deal with these Pirates--we do the same as General Huston did more than 100 years ago, we hit them so hard that they think twice before attacking again. Sometimes less talk, more action.

The TH!NK city is currently only available to Norwegian customers, through car dealerships here in Norway. Think has applied for loans from DoE in the States and is investigating opportunities for production. These processes will take some time and therefore we cannot say for certain when the TH!NK city will be available on the US market. We will, however, notify you via e-mail as soon as the vehicle is ready for purchase. Best regards Anja Ree Aasheim Coordinator Think

Hey Glenn, you should look at this as an opportunity. From now on, you can offer your guests the opportunity to rent a chair and a bell. A chair to sit down should they get faint and a bell to ring for the booth to cut to commercial. You handled the situation like a pro! I am glad to hear David is alright. When is he going to be back on set? As a joke, could you have the EMT folks standing by? all in fun! Ed

Portland Business Community : Unemployed - What Now?

Hey Bear, Well said. I have a suggestion to add to number 3. I attended a conference a few weeks back and received a free book from one of the speakers. I read it, then blogged about some of the concepts in the book, then sent a link to the blog article to the author. He in turn sent me three more books! Right now I'm reading about a book per week: so i strongly endorse Bear's suggestion to Continue Your Education. While I am "technically" (self) employed, I sometimes feel unemployed--especially in today's economy.

Update: Looks like Captain Phillips helped things along by making another escape attempt. Bravo Captain! Too bad only three of the pirates were killed. Hey Roland, I believe you were around during the Iran Hostage crisis, did you feel frustrated? I did. I felt like a group of rag tag hostage takers held our country hostage because our President feared collateral damage. Time and time again, Americans have proven we prefer to go down fighting (Flight 99) rather than being help at bay with idol threats.
