Last summer, when gas prices were outrageous, my electric company added an "energy fee" to our electric bill. Then in October the rates were raised 20%. My February electric bill was $700. Everyones electric bill is about 150% higher. I live in the south and it's not usually very cold here. There was an article in the local newspaper saying that people can't afford those rates. The electric companies response was, "We have bills to pay, too." If cap and tax (everyone to death) goes through there will be some very cold people in winter and stiffling hot summers.
