Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: Stanford postgame

Mike Riley and his Beaver teams are really a bunch of pretenders. Think about it ...... I use to be such a over zealous fan of the Beavers but as of this year especially this year and with the Ducks huge success with a new head coach I am really losing interest fast in Mike Riley's ability to produce a pac-ten contender. Some how I really feel the progression and success in the last few years has stopped. Mike Riley can not and will not ever win a conference championship or play in a BCS bowl game. As for last nights game..... I have followed Stanford's recruiting over the last couple of years. Jim Harbaugh recruited seven four star recruits in 2008 five four star recruits 2009 and is on his way to another great recruiting year in 2010 and 2011. Wonder how many walk-ons he has on his offensive line? Enough said.

If you look back at this years losses they where teams with mobile quarterbacks or quarterbacks who can run if needed. That seems to be a big problem for the Beavs plus team speed. Motivation alone should provide the Beavs with the daunting task of taking down the Ducks and spoiling their year. The Ducks have kept the Beavs out of the Rose bowl two years in a row and they better remember that.

Looking ahead two weeks from now has anyone noticed how Cal was able to hold the Ducks to 15 points? I think the Beavs better follow Cals defensive game plan for the CW.

Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: Defensive talk

Unless the offensive line steps up today against USC and I just do not think they are capable of doing that it will be a long day for the beavers. Protecting Katz is imperative. Resent loses point to the offensive line being really bad.... I mean really bad this year. They just cannot protect Ryan and I fear he is going to get hurt. He has been sacked so many times and Quizz has been stuffed so many times this year it just infuriates me to no end.

It is called being out coached and this happens allot. Good teams make adjustments during games and I just do not see that happening enough in these games.

First of all this team has lost 200 yards of offense per game in losing James. Second this team is not as good even with James then it was last year. Third Riley needs to to reinvent his offense it is way to predictable I see teams knowing exactly where the ball is going. BYU new every play Riley was going to run the same with WSU and others. Predictability....I do not understand why it takes Quarterbacks so long to learn the offensive system at OSU when opposing teams seem to understand where the ball is going all the time? Then there is defense that is another issue for another day.

I am really surprised this year at this teams performance even without James and especially at this juncture of the season but they will now go 4-8. After this implosion just think.....USC Stanford and then the Ducks my oooooo my it is going to get even uglier.

Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: Recruiting update

Hey SnohoBeav and OSU4life! Where have you guys been four the last ten years? The Beavers have finished 7th, 8th or 9th in recruiting year in and year out in conference while finishing somewhere in the mid 45-50s nationally on a yearly basis. Now Beavers do more with less right we all know that. Tell me that recruiting in the top five like USC or the top ten nationally like the Ducks eventually puts you in a position to win a conference championship or a national title. This ability of Riley to develop players is very commendable but it has shown to be costly by losing games early. Do not misunderstand me I am not a Duck fan I hate the Ducks but all one has to do is look to the south and see where they are going. They are so loaded with talent and speed it makes one wonder how was this accomplished. I say great recruiting and better coaching. The Ducks have been able to land number one recruits every year at some position. The recruiting at OSU has got to get better or the same results will happen again..... low tier Bowl games.

Unless the Ducks are interested in him too or other top 25 schools just more of the same..... typical Beaver recruits. The fact he was offered a scholarship only by OSU and Hawaii says something right there and Rivals.com does not even rank him!. You can get lucky some of the time and the Beavers have but this year more then ever shows the lack of quality athletes with speed and great football skills and recruits that can come in and are good enough to start. OSU needs to better their team with quality and faster athletes and really be steadfast in going after them and bringing them to OSU.

Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: Cal fallout

I am not a quitter just a father who graduated myself and two sons from OSU and have matured as a fan. I have watched many Beaver football and basketball games over the years and I love the Beavs but I have come to this place where one has got to be honest about the limitations this football team has. Baring LMJ or DT getting hurt this Duck team is one of the most efficient scoring offensive machines I have ever witness in college football and the other side of the ball isn't bad either.

BeaverDon.......Very good point but the only thing that matters to me anymore with this Beaver team is that they are going to get rolled badly in the CW game at Reser and that is going to be really hard to take . Three years in a row the Ducks will have beaten the Beavers. Last year was close but this years Duck team is amazing. Where did they get all these talented players? They are head and shoulders better then the next pac-ten contender.

The fact the Beavers lost that game at washington and the way they lost it was in my opinion very telling about this years beaver team. They are not going to win many more games. They will lose to USC Ducks Stanford and CAl.

GoBeave64...... Be careful that could be the CW score Ducks 42 Beavers 7 the way am seeing it. I sure hope I am wrong but they are smokin fast and Chip Kelly is a remarkable coach for what he has been able to do in such a short period of time. I am very envious. My next fear is the Ducks baseball team will win a national championship this year ranked 5th nationally in recruiting all ready. The Beavers 14th which is totally inexcusable.

This really stunk it up last night reguarding play calling in the third and fourth quarter. Beavers get the ball back first down the dogs stack the box the play Quizz straight up the middle over and over and over getting stuffed sometimes for a loss. Ummm............ maybe try a different play on first down. It was unbelievable to watch. Now Quizz had a great game overall but come on Danny!

This is what you will see in this team from here on out when you loose half your offense with James Rogers getting hurt. This teams offense has been built around the Rogers Brothers. Katz was really being pressured because of a very average walk on group of offensive lineman and making poor decisions on top of that. Also the defensive scheme being used against the Beavs was right out of the BS and TCU playbook to a tee. Washington is lacking some talent but they are recruiting now very well and remember they beat USC in L.A and anybody who watched the Stanford vs USC game last weekend saw two very good teams in which the Beavers will struggle without James and a average deffense. It was clearly evident in the game last night James has the pure ability with his speed to seperate from defenders create space and catch the ball the other Beaver receivers could not and they dropped the ball. There are always allot of factors that play into a game but this is what I was seeing. I would love to have UofW coach he is a winner with an imagination.

Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: O-line issues

73GradeMike..... Why have the Ducks been able to recruit and sign top five and some number one recruits in the nation to their football program? If you look at todays oregonian sports page showing the Ducks recruiting class in baseball ranked 5th nationally the Beavers 14th this year. The Ducks baseball program starting into their third year. Chip Kellys first year as Ducks coach takes the Ducks to the Rose Bowl in his second year he may win a national championship in football. What is wrong with the Beavers picture? As a Beavers fan I am becoming increasingly jaded by the Mike Riley put me to sleep monotone voice such a nice guy coach. What is it going to take to get this team to the Rose Bowl. I am so tired of lower tier bowl games and OSU being viewed by sports figures and fans as the Ducks little brother. How can and why has Boise State been so good so long with fewer pac-ten quality recruits?

The Ducks will win the pac-ten this year for sure and take down the Beavers three years in a row. After watching the game against stanford the speed depth and great coaching will just wear defenses down along with an offense that is unstoppable. How did they get so good so fast? They are so much better then the Beavs can hope to be this year it just frustrates me to no end. I am also outraged with Chip Kelly's new contract extension six years at over three and a half million a year. Not bad for thirteen games and some post season play. Why coach in the NFL at this prices.

Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: BSU fallout

If you want to be a fan who just settles year in and year out for a low tier bowls be a Beaver fan. Like I have been saying this Beaver program has limitations on it. The Ducks really have none that I can see. This is what makes true Beaver fans very frustrated when you see the same kind of season beginnings every year. I expect improvement year after year. Riley gets paid between $800.00 to $900.00 a year he is turning into a typical state worker he is very comfortable.
