I do not have too much experience with reloading spent shells, but I think that it is going to be really helpful in the near future( the price of ammo is ridiculous and is only getting worse). Even when TSHTF it will be important to make reloads no matter how much ammo you have stocked away. For these reasons, I am going to start to practice to reload spent shells and hopefully I will get good quickly.

The sailboat idea is actually really good for many reasons. Where I live, there are a few islands offshore that are at least 25 miles away. If you know how to safely purify saltwater then, you have an endless supply of water. Also an extremely convenient way to gather food, fishing. The way that I see it, there are two practical ways of doing this. Obviously with a rod and then there's my way, with a spear gun or pole spear. As far as vegetation goes, seaweed and sea lettuce are edible. You can never run out of food or water so you have both of those covered. I would mostly live on one of those several islands so I would have the best of both worlds.

I'm not a big fan of Les Stroud's tv show even though I do watch it once in a while. Not that I don't like those types of shows (I love man vs wild) but some of the things that Les Stroud does gives false information to the viewers. For example, when he was in Alaska for a week and on the first day he had an issue finding water. He told viewers that snow was safe to eat and it was a good source of water. Most of the readers people here know that snow is not safe because it lowers core body temperature and could send you into hypothermia.

A reusable emergency bivvy bag may also come in handy in order to stay dry and warm in a survival situation. The original bivvy bags are meant to make your sleeping bag water proof as well as warmer. A great thing about this one is that it can be rolled up put into a carry bag that is included I just purchased one from Amazon.com for about 16$. I have not used it yet but my expectations are pretty high. I would recommend this to everybody.

I love both calibers along with the .40 s&w but i'd have to go with the 9mm. First off, the price difference for rounds is rediculous. A box of 50 rds for 9mm is around 13-15$ as opposed to around 22$ for the .45. I can handle the recoil of a .45 well but it is nothing compared to a 9mm. You could fire 9mm rds fast with little recoil. As far as stopping power goes, a 9mm does the job more than adequately. Getting shot with a 9mm is no little thing, don't fool yourself.

The only median here would be the .40 which is what I prefer the most because it has the best traits of the 9mm and the .45

I just picked up one of these from the store the other day and i've been impressed. I haven't used it a lot yet but I can really see that it would be useful. I really recommend that everybody buys al least one
