How can the president act alone and commit 'our' money? Congress is supposed to approve all expenditures.

You are exactly right!!! The part(s) were made to the specifications of the engineer. It is not the manufacturer that is to blame for a poor design. And by the way, why is it that after more than 100 years of car building we suddenly have a design for the gas pedal mechanism that causes it to stick? Someone other than the manufacturer didn't do their homework!!!

Just how, then, are corporations supposed to influence politics to favor some of their goals? Every contribution is a 'special interest' no matter how small. People support a candidate because that candidate has views that match most closely with theirs. Remember, too, that it is corporations that are the employer of many workers. If they cannot influence conditions that are more favorable to their needs, they will not be as successful and continue to grow and expand their workforce. There is a balance that needs to be maintained so that one side or the other does not prevail in all cases. Otherwise, there is too much danger of greed ruling the day at the expense of the individuals freedoms. It is not a clear black or white choice, where corporations are evil and the individual is always right! Corporations deserve to have their views considered, also.

I get on this website to VENT about the agenda of these far left liberals. I don't care to read about the weather in your neck of the woods! This is not supposed to be a social networking site. I like seeing posts with links that show how far this administration is willing to go to PUSH its 'fundamental transformation of America'...to Marxist Socialism. I don't care what time you got up or what you had for breakfast. Please go to a chat room if that is what you want to do. I just want to read others VENTING and see links to information that supports the VENT. I don't have the time to search the web myself for these tidbits of information. It is very convenient for me to go to any links that are cited by other posters. I can then evaluate whether there is any truth to the content of that link and consider the source' credibility. That is what I see as valuable in this site. The administrators should make a place where all social networking can be accomplished and get the jibber jabber out of the VENTING tab.

She is one gal that has a firm grasp of the issues! We should all be listening to her as one who knows true conservatism when she sees it and also when it is missing.

Who's going to make sure they don't wander off into the rest of the country when they are well enough!?! That's all we need is more undocumented illegal aliens wandering around our country!!! Sure it's a bad situation in Haiti right now, but it hadn't been a good situation for them even before the earthquake. We all feel empathy for Haitians right now but where were we before the quake? America needs to figure out what action it is going to take for the future of this nation(?). Right now it is just a hole in the ocean that we pour money into! Without an economy, Haiti will be no better off, even after we help rebuild their infrastructure.
