The Tenth Amendment of the Constitution severely limits the power of the federal government (note that we do not have a central government.) The Constitution can change (as it has many times) by approval of 3/4 of the states. The 10th Amendment clearly limits the federal government in it's scope and power, subject to any later amendments. The federal courts have for decades ignored the 10th amendment and have used the "Commerce Clause" to ignore the limits of the federal government. The commerce clause was intended to protect states from unfair trade practices between the states not give the federal government power over the states. In addition, the supremacy clause must interpreted in light of the 10 amendment which limits the power of the federal government to the powers expressly granted to the federal government. But what do I know, I didn't graduate from an Ivy League school. For all of you Ivy League scum sucking judges, the 10 amendment reads as follows: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
