KATU - Portland, OR : TriMet settles with family of teen struck and killed by one of their buses | KATU.com - Portland, Or

First, what parent in their right mind lets their child bike 6 miles to and from school everyday through the busiest intersection in Beaverton? This is what can happen when a parent gives a child too much freedom. Her loss is border line neglect and criminal. Stephanie Miller lives with her boyfriend. They met at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting several years ago while Joe Burk was married. I’m sure the starter wife is thinking, this could have been one of her children!! These so-called “parents” are money hungry. The fact that they even sued after the criminal investigation found the boy to be negligent (he was listening to an IPOD at the time) and the bus driver not at fault shows they just wanted money. What will they do with this money? The parents will only get a portion of that settlement money after they split it in half (since their not married) and the lawyer takes his share. If they buy anything, they will have thrown his memory away. If they invest it in today’s economy say to buy a house and later lose it to job loss or foreclosure; they will have throw his memory away. If Stephanie Miller uses it as she said on the news for her other children’s college educations, what will those children do with the child support money their father will be paying out for college? Why is she only willing to create an Arts and Communication Magnet Academy scholarship fund with some of the money and not all of it? Stephanie Miller works as a personal trainer making less than minimum wage so she needs this money to live on or she could always just use her boyfriend’s money instead? Lastly, what the public doesn’t realize is that the parents had to settle this case out of court because there were no grounds to go even go to trial because the Tri-met driver was never at fault.
