Too true! The crime should not be in the possession but the use. Owning a car is not illegal, but running someone over is.

Are you aware that tasers, the models that really work, are only allowed to be sold to law enforcement and military? The founders intended the common citizen to own the weaponry to defend against tyranny of the government. They were fully aware that as time passed technology would advance and that the common citizen would need to keep up with that technology to be able to defend themselves. Common citzens owned cannon and mortar back then. What is todays equivalent? There should be no fear of a mentally healthy, law abiding person owning any form of weapon. And for the insane, criminal type...well those kinds of people will always find a way to commit their horrible acts. They used machetes in Rawanda for instance. Machetes are common TOOLS used in Rawanda that happens to be useful for more than chopping away the jungle. I have many friends in law enforcement that love to tell me how the weapon of choice for many is the automobile. Shall we outlaw our cars?

You are so right. All the worst places in the world are bad because the people living there cannot peacfully resolve their differences. They gather into tribes and gangs and at best becomes a feudal system of government. I think people look to violence out of desparation. They think it is the only way to change things, or they think it will be an easy way. Well, it is one way to change things, but never easy. As you pointed out it only creates more questions and problems,

I think that is not a very good idea. The regulation provides the upsidedown flag to be a SIGNAL, not a SYMBOL. If you feel threatened in life or limb, or if you are stranded with no food or water, then by all means put your flag up, upsidedown. Also to set up such a protest on a day that we are to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice would be so insulting that many others would not understand or be sympathetic to our cause.

Many of the Founding Fathers are quoted as saying that the governmnet they set up could only be successful with an honest and moral people. When people look to get one over on the government or their neighbors, then the whole system begins to break down and the government is forced to crack down with burdensome regulations.

Your statement leads me to believe that you fail to understand the purpose of this web site. This is a gathering place for people to discuss how to make our country a better place. The idea is to try to think of how we are alike and not how we are different. Comments like yours or even from those on the far right are not productive. This is not the place for it. As you probably already know, there are plenty of blog sites where you can get this negativity off your chest and then return here to be much more productive.

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : Where Is The "Bonus Outrage" On This One?

You have a valid point, though I don't think you get much mileage from your insulting tone. Government spending has been a huge proplem through many Administrations and changes of control of Congress. The goal of the 9-12 project is to be a place for people of different political beliefs to come together and try to find solutions to the problems our nation faces today.

I have heard that the rules for the census allow for the census takers to stand on a street corner and estimate the number of people living on that street. I have been head of a household through two census and the only thing I remember is the first Bush administration had cards mailed out to everyone. They were color in the dot style. You simply filled it out and mailed it back. In 2000 I don't even remember how the Clinton administration handled it, though I do remember a huge controversery over the redistricting that followed. Now with the White House conducting it and not the Department of Commerce who knows what will happen, especially with ACORN involved.
