I have always been against the "hate crimes" concept. A crime is a crime. Assault is assault. It is the act that should be punished, not the thought. Trying to divine the intentions of someone who commits a crime will take us down a very dangerous path towards punishing thought. ACORN receives federal funds, which means taxpayers are subsidizing a particular point of view, as well as the harassment of private corporations and individuals. ACORN members, then, are essentially the shock troops of the federal government. So if you are not acting in a way that suits them, they will come after you and harass you -- with the support of the government. What type of government harasses private individuals?
