In our business, they say that you know you're a lifer when you've been clerking so long that you file petitions for divorce for coupled that you issued the marriage license to. I've had that scenario too.
I've also seen petitions for name changes where the name that the applicant was changing from made me think "Your mother/father hated you, didn't they?" or "You know that your kid will hate you for this/get beaten up at school for this?"
Another fun deal is when a man filing for divorce trys to force the woman to restore her maiden name and she decides to keep the married surname just to piss him off. You can't make her take your surname or give it back either-the law doesn't work that way.
