What Acorn election fraud? There was no Acorn election fraud. This is another right wing canard and to me, makes anything that follows questionable. Workers for Acorn were registering voters. Some of those people got greedy and lazy and listed fictitional names. Acorn reported this to the election offices (they had no authority to simply remove the names themselves). Acorn themselves were the ones that brought this "fraud" to light and the right wing ran with it, twisting it, as usual, to their own ends. None of the fictitious names listed were ever put on the rolls and there was no fraud. And while we're on the subject, didn't some republicans activists actually go to jail for misrepresenting a petition and fooling people into changing their party affiliation from democrat to republican? That is what I might call real fraud. Obama was asked about his policies in many debates. He was also subjected to a lot of guilt by association that was unwarranted.

Then I'll rephrase. Why does the right hate our representational republican democracy so much? The point is still this: we had a long national debate leading up to the 2008 elections. Barack Obama (and his policies) won. The American people have spoken and elections have consequences. So why does the right wing want to subvert the will of the people?

What is happening in our country is that a man got elected president who offered hope and change. He made his positions clear. The majority of Americans voted for him. He is now trying to do what we sent him to Washington to do. And now a very vocal minority is afraid of that change and are willing to lie and threaten and incite violence to stop the president and the democratic majority from doing exactly what the majority of people in this country elected them to do. My question is: why do you on the right so hate democracy?? Why is it that after having your way for eight years (and failing) that you are unwilling to acknowledge the will of the people? What Glenn Beck is doing is inciting fear. He's inciting violence and hate and rebellion against the legally elected government.

Glenn Beck represents the epitome of what Charles Pierce calls "Idiot America". He should be laughed off the stage but instead, because he's on the "teevee" he is somehow afforded some sort of credibility. He's selling a product. And enough people are buying it to make what he says "true". A lot of Pet Rocks sold too. Doesn't mean they were worth a thing.
