inprogress : rest well...

Totally late to the comment party since I neglected my blog reading for a long while. But I just wanted to say...I have lupus too. I had no clue you had lupus. What a huge blessing to be given the new bed. I so understand the difference that makes. I'm in constant transition (out of work) these days. And one thing I miss the most is having the comfort of my bed. It truly does make a huge difference when it comes to pain and restful sleep. So awesomely awesome that your friends did that for you. What a blessing!

A Marked Change : Christian and single

I am not sure if I have any questions right now or not. I totally get what you're saying about the idol. And the question, "Am I willing to sin in order to get it?" is quite profound actually. It kind of sums up a lot of what I think I've struggled with as a single Christian. I think one of my biggest frustrations is that many churches have kind of left singles high and dry. There's the youth groups. And children's ministry. There's groups for moms. And support groups, etc., etc. But many of the churches I've checked out and the one I became a member of (before moving back home to Cali that is) had nothing for singles. Not even semi-regular get togethers. My thing is...if a church doesn't have the ability to set something like that up, I wish that more married folks would include singles in their lives. Annie Downs wrote a blog post about that awhile back (about being taken on a "date" with married friends). At my age, I am (no joke) the ONLY single person without kids in my wide group of friends. At one point, professionally I could say that I knew two single people but they had children so they fit in well with my married colleagues. I personally feel like some of that loneliness of being single and hitting my mid-thirties (I don't believe I'm alone on this) would be lessened if people felt like "God places the lonely in families Ps 68:6," was something that they could apply in their own lives by making a single person a part of their family (so to speak). I don't think I have questions about dating or relationships right now. Mostly because I've just come out of a very long period of dating people I shouldn't. So I know what my problem was...lol...I was dating unbelievers or guys whose relationship was the Lord wasn't so hot. And, I've heard (ad nauseum) of all the ways to meet people. What I would rather hear about is the practical day to living of submitting, trusting, etc. My recent post Timeless Love
