Thank you reminding. I have started becoming forgetful. I am grateful to Dev Team for the knowledge I have gained here. Specially, I liked dhlizard's cryptic comments and also loved Slava's 'Crystal ball scene'. I am also grateful to all the posters (can be seen in the intensedebate profile) for helping me, for almost one and half year, to understand the two worlds, Locked and Liberated. If life permits, we shall meet sometime in future. Good Bye.

Installing Cydia again and again on a jailbroken phone is always a bad idea. Since you are manufacturer unlocked, you need not downgrade bb. Restore to Stock, setup as new, jailbreak with Redsn0w afresh, sync your personal data. The curse vanishes!

After deselecting Auto as in my previous post. The phone goes into search mode. List the Carriers displayed after search is complete.

Use Redsn0w to make NO_BB 5.1.1 ipsw from stock. Shift+restore in iTunes pointing to this NO_BB ipsw. jailbreak fresh, install Ultrasn0w. Sync personal data in iTunes. Search iClarified for a tutorial. Page will have links for appropriate downloads.

Your problem has been explained by dhlizard above. Such weird issues are seen when one tries to mix jailbreak and restore from backup. Syncing back content after jailbreak is recommended as above ^^^^.

All above ^ is to help you to retain your jailbreak. You might as well restore in iTunes to stock. IMEI unlock will get attached. But you will be required to jailbreak again. Choice is yours.

All above ^^^ Most likely, sim has gone bad, and nothing can be done. SAM unlock is for a specific pair (SIM and iPhone). You are correct bb of your iPhone can not be unlocked, except by the Carrier to whom iPhone is sim locked. It would be worth a try. Viel Glück

What are the errors observed. Alternatively In such a case, restore to stock 4.2.1 and repeat the process. Hosts should be pointing to Apple, verify if you have earlier edited hosts file to point to Cydia.

What I make out is that you had unlocked iPhone 4 using SAM technique. Now it is restored to official iOS 5.1.1, bb 4.12.xx, and once again has become locked. If you have saved SAM generated lockdown folder, for the pair (particular SIM and iPhone) you can use Redsn0w Extras/ Even more/ Tickets to unlock the pair again.

Perhaps you want to downgrade to 5.13.xx so that you can unlock with Ultrasn0w. If this is correct Follow instructions in iClarified page enid=22652 First time Select 'Install iPad Baseband' option. Next time select 'Downgrade Baseband' *In some iPhones Downgrade may have to be done twice.

You can go ahead with downgrade. For iMessages etc you need to use SAM technique again if these stop functioning.
