KOMO - Seattle, WA : Ken Schram: Tow companies love car-free Sundays | KOMO News - Seattle, Washington | News

Not only were there at least five tow trucks at 11:15 am in the morning scurry around maing a buck, but 14th is also home to one of Seattle Housing Authority's buildings for the elderly and disabled. Many of their cars were parked on that street and it appears did not recieve any notice that the cars were going to be towed. Low income folks cannot afford towing bills, Mayor Nickels. Very sad for these people. 14th should not have been used a car-free street - it is not a heavily traveled road and is strictly residential. Pick a street where it makes a difference if you want to keep trying this inane set up. At least on Capitoil HIll, I knew where to find a police officer that day. Rumor is that resdients in the area were given very little notice about the street being closed. This was embarassing and such a fiasco. Sad.
