Ditto to the previous comment. Michah Gottlieb, you are a child of the Conservative Movement and reaped its many benefits and privileges--above all growing up in a committed family and community with many role models. From what you describe, you were fortunate enough to be able to continue studying and now being a scholar and teacher. You have many options in the present (some not available to those of us looking for equality in a minyan--an issue which is about far more than just "politics"). Why be Kofer Batov? And why idealize other groups? Each has struggles and problems, as well as iappeal. The Conservative Movement has always had much to offer, institutionally, intellectually, spiritually. Now there are numerous small communities and minyanim springing up everywhere. You are free to choose your kehillah, but it seems odd to complain about not "being wanted."
