First: Separation of Powers (IMO) precludes the use or consideration of religious arguments in debates of Law. The State's only interest in marriage is in the form of a social contract, and contracts may be entered into by persons of the same gender unless you choose to void every business contract which has entered into by parties who don't happen to be opposite genders.
Second: Not all religions find Gay marriage to be objectionable and therefore the free practice of those which honor gay marriage is protected under the First Amendment.
