This is a great article with many options for treating water, but Dave came up with an interesting point; good old gravity separation. Our company, Aqualete Industries and its executives have been in the construction industry for over 60 years. Managing water and staying EPA compliant on the water discharge is a struggle that every GC goes through on a daily basis. Our CEO was contracted to help with the BP oil spill and in that endeavor, he developed our current green technology for stormwater management and dewatering. Our systems use Dave’s old theory of gravity separation in a portable sediment tank which accomplishes what several of these above products do in a fraction of their time.

Our portable sediment tank, the WTS2000 is an accessible, affordable, tow-behind accelerated sedimentation device. It was designed for contractors who must dewater a site, well points, expediting drying dredge waste, construction site discharge, dewatering, truck/equipment wash yards, oil/water separating, treat or maintain a sediment basin or clean and maintain MTDs all while staying compliant with current EPA discharge regulations. With the WTS2000, contractors are able to discharge treated water back on site, into a nearby roadway, drainage location or in the absence of a BMP, into any downstream location; without any additional permits. The unit has an average flow rate of 250 GPMs with gravels and 120 GPMs with heavy clays; at full capacity. Average reduction rates are: TSS: 87%, Turbidity: 75%, Hydrocarbons: 97%, Phosphorous: 83% and Nitrogen: 83%.
