@Nichole, read the article and you'll see the reference to the fact that this only shows up for people who also download the same browser extension. That's not a violation of the TOS, it's a layer over Facebook.

It's always best to peruse the article in full before commenting.

Of course you do. If you didn't, you wouldn't have attempted to buy the ad in the first place, nor made a such a fuss about it once Facebook bounced your posting attempt. Had you previously read the site's rules and deliberately tried to flout them to maximize the attention you'd get? And how much business have you gotten as a result of all this?

Thanks for commenting. :)

Thanks for the update, RoseJMort. None of these are rollouts -- they are only tests. As such, it's a matter of when we notice them. That said, you're clearly on an earlier test cycle than we are, so we appreciate hearing from you on this. Please keep us posted.

@Tom and @Dean, please reread paragraphs five and six. AllFacebook.com is not a squatter. Facebook obviously considers us helpful to the company's brand. If the social network had a negative opinion of our blog, we would have had to cease and desist a long time ago. Our blog has been around since spring of 2007, and we communicate with spokespeople for Facebook on an almost daily basis.

Roy, while we blog about the Facebook universe, we are not affiliated with the social network. Instead of repeat-posting questions in all capital letters here, please present your inquiries to http://www.facebook.com/help/ Good luck.

I'm commenting on my own post here, just to reflect on all the media coverage of this change. A lot of people are oversimplying things by saying that Facebook has added LGBT situations to relationship statuses, and I just don't agree that civil unions and domestic partnerships amount to the full spectrum of nonheterosexual dating scenarios. I get to say that because I'm in the B-labeled part of the demographic alluded to by that acronym above.

I think the two additions make a great first step, but would love to see more options under "it's complicated" and "open relationship."

I don't think expanding the relationship status menus will do much to combat homophobia on Facebook, either. People who are 'phobic typically don't have friends who are in civil unions nor domestic partnerships, so unless the social network starts publishing statistics on how many profiles have those designations, the 'phobes won't see these alternative relationships on the site.

The "Dummies" books are one of the most formulaic imprints in the publishing world, so one would think Wiley could've found a way to come out with the FarmVille title while the number of people playing the game was still rising.
