Pink Raygun.com : Fight Zombies With Flair

They aren't really new storylines. There are two sets if Wii exclusive REs. There's "Archives" which are ports of REbirth and Zero from the Gamecube and "Chronicles" which are rail shooter retellings of some segments of the original series with a couple of new stories explaining what the hell happened between CODE: Veronica and RE4 but I'm not sure how canonical they are. Much as I love this series I think the key to enjoyment is to forget the story and just get on with the killing.

Yeah, Alice is an original character but in the first film she filled the Jill Valentine role, hence the mini-skirt. When Jill came into the films, Alice's roll shifted to a good guy version of Wesker and now Wesker's in the films Alice is just a badass survivor. Some of Alice's moves found their way into The Umbrella Chronicles (one of the Wii exclusive titles) and the laser corridor made it into a couple of the games (minus the dismemberment sadly). These days both canologies influence each other.

I love Alice's progressively more post-apocalyptic hair. You can loot all the cool clothes you need but all the good hairdressers get eaten. I like the more combat appropriate variants of their game outfits that Jill and Claire get. Jill's Apocalypse outfit is just like her Nemesis outfit but with more sensible footwear (and better colour coordination) and Claire's Afterlife outfit is taken from CODE: Veronica but with flexible trousers instead of jeans. Now I want Ada Wong in a future movie so I can see what she's wearing.

Jab? I hope you don't think I was making a jab at Nancy. Michael Grade and the BBC Press office yes but not Nancy.

My first was Sylvester McCoy at the time when Michael Grade (ex controller of the BBC who takes great pride in the fact that he axed Dr Who because he personally didn’t like it) was doing everything in his power to destroy it. Luckily my parents had videos of all the previous Doctors to hand. Much as I love Eccleston, Tennant and now Smith, I’ll always be a Baker girl at heart. By the way, the whole Eccleston leaving because he didn’t want to be typecast thing isn’t quite true. He was only ever supposed to do one series with his regeneration into David Tennant intended to be the shock ending for the series. But the BBC press office found out and told the world without bothering to check their facts first. Like you do.

Pink Raygun.com : Will The Last Airbender Save M. Night?

Long story short, a cartoon in which heroic East Asian and Inuit kids liberate oppressed East Asians from their East Asian oppressors has been adapted into a live action movie where heroic white kids (in funny Asian and Inuit costumes) liberate oppressed miscellaneous minorities from their brown skinned oppressors.

They've done a pretty decent job at recreating certain aspects of the look of the show but I can't bring myself to contribute to its box office takings. The only thing keeping it from being a full blown Yellowface production is that they haven't gone so far as taping the actors' eyelids.

Pink Raygun.com : Anyone Tired of Vampires?

Perhaps today it represents society's fear of anything original. I mean say what you like about vamps that sparkle, at least it was something new but it's the thing that seems to get people most up in arms.

I'm more sick of the current fashionable romantic portrayal of vampires than of vampires themselves. The moody, broody, trying but failing dismally to be sexy, morally ambiguous "I must feed but it breaks my heart, whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa I'm so loooooooooooooooonely!!" kinda vampire. 30 Days of Night's uncomplicated bloodsuckers were a breath of fresh air. Zombies don't have a romantic side and I can't see myself ever getting sick of them (except when Romero's trying to use them symbolically that is).

Pink Raygun.com : DVD Review: Trick 'R Treat

Did it not go to any theatres in America? I got to see it on the big screen at FrightFest in London (one of the lucky few, it seems). It did look pretty incredible. Brian Cox was there to introduce it but thanks to my sucky timekeeping I managed to miss him.
