Breitbart.com : Israeli MP plans \'popcorn law\' for movie munchers

With enough people like you who think the price is too high, then the theaters would eventually have no choice but to lower prices, come up with something else to sell, or close down. I have to say, that is the free market. It doesn't even take a politician to work it out. Considering the fact that most theater doors are still open and the smell of popcorn is still wafting out, although not as good a smell as it was before government banned the coconut oil they used to use, I guess you are in the minority so far. There just don't seem to be enough people in poverty to join your bandwagon and put the theaters out of business quite yet.

Nothing would cost too much if we just let government ban everything. You can't make profit if we just ban money. Ban movies, ban smoking, ban eating anything but lettuce and soy bean products, ban all products which are not necessary for sitting in the corner of your cave and breathing while thinking about how much longer you have to live, which will be equal to how long you sit in the corner of your cave doing nothing, because it's all banned. We won't need jobs if there is nothing to buy, so we won't really have to ban jobs, that will take care of itself with the banning of all things anyone would want to pay for. I haven't come up with a solution (other than slavery) for getting the supply train going for the lettuce and soy beans yet, because with nothing to work for or strive for after it's all banned, there won't be much to incentivize workers other than a sturdy whip. Now... how to incentivize the whip manufacturer...

Of all the high costs of operating a movie theater, I am surprised that people haven't mentioned the highest of all. It is by no means cheap to purchase or lease land and build a building the size of a movie theater. It costs even more in the locations where theaters can actually have any foot traffic. People who shell out multi-million dollar investments to build a movie theater have every right to charge whatever they like in order to make that back as well as all the profit they desire in order to hire the helpful theater staff and go on wild spending binges at yacht marinas if they like. It's called a free market. People need to stop worrying about other people making money and go try to make some of their own.

Two market forces work against monopolies ripping you off if the government just stays out of it. First, there is a price point that is reached where people will no longer find the product or service worth paying for regardless of it being a monopoly. Second, (assuming a non-patentable product or service) others will always come along and offer the product or service cheaper if a healthy profit can still be made from it. So, occasionally, try putting a little thought ahead of your comments, low IQ boy.

Besides, I don't buy your premise that a monopoly is a bad thing. That's another problem. Simply through institutionalization of laws and opinions, you buy into the premise that a monpoly is evil without ever having actually put your own thought process into making that decision. If a monopoly is so evil, then why have a patent office? If I come up with a unique business model that people would be willing to pay out the nose for and it is my idea, my sweat and toil that goes into the business and my money that puts it all together, what business is it of yours to say that others should be able to copy me and take a chunk of the profit that I have created the potential for?

Hey LibWithIQ. You prove the point that having an IQ doesn't mean that it is necessarily a high one. Your ability to make a choice between going to a theater or not, renting a movie or not, buying popcorn or not, or opening your own theater and charging whatever you want for popcorn on your own private property (something that is constitutionally protected in the U.S.) IS THE FREE MARKET. It is not a monopoly to provide a service on your own private property to people who have made the free choice to enter and take part in that service. It would only be a monopoly if there were only one company who owned theaters.

You have to love it. Greece can go suck it! The is always the result of socialism, so I don't know why everyone wants to keep trying it. So, Greece takes the socialism route, supports most of their citizens on the backs of a few, spends themselves into deep debt and then wants to get credit based on Germany's credit rating? Why didn't I think of that about 15 years ago when I was in debt and had bad credit? I should have just told the credit card companies to give me more credit based on my neighbor's FICO score and went out to the mall and lived it up! Now I can see that I was a sucker for cutting back on my spending, paying down my debt and earning my way to an 850 FICO score. I deserve a face slap. :(

Why is it that when all of your other arguments fall flat, you homosexuals always fall back on the "I can't have my gay lover come visit me in the hospital" talking point? Who in the hell ever said that homosexuals can't visit each other in the hospital? I have visited casual acquaintances in the hospital. No one cares who visits whom in the hospital, just do it during visiting hours. There is no sign on the hospital walls that says, "Gay lovers keep out." Maybe there should be, though.

It gets really tiresome when you homosexuals keep calling straight people who are disgusted with your sinful behavior, homophobes. There is nothing about you that scares us. Libs always want to put a misnomer label on anyone they disagree with, because debate based on merits won't work for their side of the issues.

Yup. After women became so prevalent in the military almost half of the AFN TV commercials are about how bad you are for commiting sexual harrassment. Years ago the commercials were about activities and great accomplishments (because they cut out real state-side commercials), but now it's all about Rape, Sexual Harrassment, gambling, drinking, smoking, rape, sexual harrassment, rape, and sexual harrassment. I am so tired of it. Before women were in the military, boys could be boys and weren't constantly being chickified. I rue the day I have to see the first, "Don't beat up your gay bunkmate" commercial.

Breitbart.com : Plan to fire all its teachers roils poor RI city

In a way, our country was founded with a real estate owner's union, so to speak. You had to be a property owner to vote. Just allowing any numbskull to vote is something that came much later. If everyone had to at least pass a simple test on American History before being allowed to vote, we would be much better off. As for teachers, the entire problem we have with them is that they are unionized. Firing the whole lot of them and hiring back only non-union teachers would make a world of difference. Like everyone else, they should rely on their job performance for their job security and not simply tenure.

Breitbart.com : Navy will soon let women serve on subs

Since around 1990 or so, I have seen all of the PSA style television commericals on Armed Forces Network go from advertising all of the MWR (Morale, Welfare, and Recreation) services and fantastic military achievements to a constant barrage of PSAs warning soldiers not to commit sexual harrassment, rape, drink, smoke cigarettes, gamble, commit sexual harrassment, rape, commit sexual harrassment or rape. It's a constant chickification of the military that never lets up on the television. It's pathetic. Rather than bring women into submarines, I think the plan should be to get women out of military active duty altogether and let boys be boys and do their job.

The military is to serve the purpose of fighting wars, killing people and breaking things. Billions of extra dollars are spent in making it a Coed environment around the world. So many things end up disrupting commands, causing untimely substitutions of those who are deployed, such as pregnancies, rape allegations, sexual harrassment allegations, jealous rivalries, etc. I am not saying that there have not been women who have served honorably, but the problems they cause far outweigh any necessity of trying to create a harmonious fairness among the sexes in the military. It's not as if military members enjoy contitutional rights and equal protection the way civilians do anyway, they sign those rights away and follow the UCMJ. There are many other things that can keep you from joining the military that seem far more unfair than being female, such as weight or colorblindness.

This is one of the stupidist ideas to come down the pike in the military for a long time. One of the biggest mistakes ever made was to let women serve in the military in the first place let alone put them onboard a submarine, which will have to make room for new bathrooms, showers, and end up causing more problems with morale, as throwing a couple women into a large group of men always does.

I wonder who's actual kid it is? Without knowing that at least, I find I have to take the side of the woman who seems to be repentant for her previous homosexual sins. Regardless of how much the homosexual acceptance agenda has been pushed, it doesn't mean that it is any less a sin in the eyes of any Christian who has the backbone to actually voice their honest opinion. I for one am sick and tired of being told that I have to be tolerant of these sinful homosexuals, while no one is tolerant of my first amendment protected freedom of religion to believe that homosexuality is an abomination. I applaud Lisa Miller for finding God and turning from a life of sin.

Don't try to lecture me with your horse hockey, because I will put you in your place. I have been studying the history of the Pacific Islands for 29 years. And it just so happens that I live in the Marshall Islands presently. As for Hawaiian history, that is a completely different story and full of a lot of back stabbing Hawaiians who eventually begged the U.S. to take control of them, so believe me, you don't want to go there with me either. I will say this of the Hawaiians, they certainly had a far greater culture and more interesting history than the Marshallese.
