Daily Camera.com: : Savers unexpectedly closing Boulder thrift store amid property sale - Boulder Daily Camera

Oh come on people... a big real estate deal like this... and absolutely no one knows what the h-ll is going on?... Pure BS. No one knows what's going on, because the elites don't want you to know what's going on. Savers was a Godsend for people like me, low income, on disability from a back injury, and everyone who's struggling here. Unfortunately, the people running this town would just as soon see us crawl off somewhere and die. It's no secret, like this is, on how this town views the down and out. Someone go ask that doctor Vialpando if it's his elite sports complex... or what does the 9 million bucks we're going to be held ransom for tax wise to turn Boulder into the front range Aspen in the name of artsy fartsy unhelpful trash, hold in store? I am positive though, that what ever entire paycheck eating tumor sprouts up there, will not be anywhere close to the value, and help, that Savers was.

Daily Camera.com: : Amanda Fitch: Bring us a Walmart, already - Boulder Daily Camera

I'll start with this. Amanda, I'm not the least bit impressed with your rash generalization of "long haired unwashed" Boulder citizens whom are in favor of Amendment 64. William Clinton smoked marijuana, do you have a unjustified contemptuous attitude towards him as well? Frankly, I feel that someone who automatically equates ones personal hygiene habits to a substance they consume to being in the double digit IQ range. Boulder does not need a Wal Mart. The Super Wal Mart at the Rock Creek mall off of 36 is LESS than a 10 minute drive for me, I live near Foothills and Baseline road. The Wal Mart in Lafayette is just as close, although because of the ridiculously slow speed limits imposed by the City of Lafayette, it takes about 20 minutes to get to this store. Target, at 28th & Pearl, offers everything Wal Mart does, their products offered are just as good of quality, if not better in some instances. People are continuously whining how they want the best deals. Yet these people will tell you that our economy is horrific, and that Americans need jobs. If our worthless lawmakers and legislators would impose long overdue tariffs on shoddy, cheap products produced in countries that have sweat shop labor mills, and manipulate their currencies to drive down the global economy, America might just start making toasters, toothbrushes and pet food, which WILL CREATE more American jobs. You may have to pay slightly more for these goods, which might force you to actually involve a budget in your life, but the long term results will be that your children will not be singing the Chinese national anthem, and will have a better future than what they're looking at now. We don't need Wal Mart, and I'm fairly sure that the majority of Boulderites don't want a Wal Mart either.

Daily Camera.com: : Boulder looking for feedback on possible code changes to curb heavy drinking - Boulder Daily Camera

Once again, the ludicrousness of this attempt goes so far over the top, it's laughable. Not one person who's posted so far believes that there's anything that can be done to curtail the binge drinking that has, unfortunately, become the college norm. The only way to even attempt to fix this deadly activity is to work with the students on almost a one to one level, introducing them to the established proven dangers of excessive, rapid alcohol consumption. Alcohol is a killer, it's taken 4 of my best friends. It has the narrowest window between the slurred speech passing out level and then the respiratory arrest of any other drug, heroin, morphine, crack, etc. Simply put, you go from to passed out to dead very quickly. I wish I had an answer to this, but medically, it's a no win scenario. Short of making Colorado a dry town, I just don't see this happening.

That railroad crossing on Baseline just south of 287 has been a mess for the last 30 years. But as soon as a bikey bends a $700 wheel... its news? Anyone who's lived here as long as I have, undoubtedly remembers what the rail crossing in Louisville by Main street used to be like... now THAT was a crossing. You could catch air off of that one if you were going over 40 mph! And the one out on Dillon road by 95th street... that one would open the glove box for you!

Boulder City Council won't be happy until they control every single aspect of our lives, and the most terrifying part of this is, is that apparently the majority of this Paxil soaked paranoid apathetic politically correct population will just sit complacently and silently on the sidelines like good little sheep and allow this to happen. Tweeting and "faceybooking" won't stop this. Need a clue? The Arab Spring sets a fine one.

Daily Camera.com: : CU-Boulder: Profs can\'t cancel classes over gun-carrying students - Boulder Daily Camera

I mentioned this yesterday in a comment. As soon as someone who is doing something "politically incorrect" but within the law, if CU doesn't like it, they seem to just pass their own laws trying to block the activity. Then, with regards to firearms, on the flip side of the coin, they have reason to be somewhat apprehensive in lieu of what went down with the wacko who shot up the theater, but supposedly a CU psychiatrist voice concerns over this individual well in advance, and the faculty dropped the ball. end point... if the individual seems to be of sound mind, and legally posesses a carry permit, shut up and teach the class.

I hope CU gets their a$$ kicked over this in court. If it was up to these pious sob's they would rewrite the U.S. constitution to suit their ways. People bent on using a firearm illegally don't give a rats behind about gun laws concocted by paranoid fools who shouldn't leave their homes for fear of something unpleasant happening. If you don't want a gun, fine, don't buy one. Just don't play with your frigging phone while you're driving either, because you're just as likely to kill someone as a drunk driver playing with their gun while their driving.

Daily Camera.com: : David M. Justice: Mitt Romney\'s tax returns say enough about him - Boulder Daily Camera

Romney's a lying corporate butcher who will kill decent hardworking peoples livelihoods just to make a buck for his own self profit. If it comes down to him vs. Satan on the ballot, Satan's getting my vote. This is the republican trash that gave banks free reign under the worst president in history, Bush, that has pushed this country half an inch from real patriots taking up arms and taking our country back. By any means necessary. If I so much as apply for a job driving a cab, which I'm about to do, they do a background check on me back to the day I was born, as well as all sorts of drug tests. What makes this two faced republican greed monger any better than the rest of us? If he's not disclosing his taxes, it's because he HAS SOMETHING TO HIDE. Maybe we should all vote republican. This country's been wounded and suffering for to long, putting republicans back in charge would be akin to putting a bullet through a wounded animal to finally put it out of it's misery.

Daily Camera.com: : Study: Boulder needs long-term plan for primary employer retention - Boulder Daily Camera

I remember back in the 70's this place really was "Silicon Mountain." There were little electronic manufacturing start ups everywhere, I was a technician, and if I was out of work for more than two weeks, it's because I didn't want a job. But Boulder has deemed manufacturing a filthy disease, and seen to it that it's not financially possible to do that, and many other businesses, here as well. This town is destined to become another Aspen, Steamboat, what ever. A load of filthy rich pretentious better than everyone else jerks who are so rich they don't have to work. The McDonald's and other fast food places here used to be staffed by high school kids who needed the work, now it's a bunch of maybe legal immigrants who travel in from Longmont, Erie, where ever. The high school kids and college students around here anymore are a bunch of spoiled silver spoon fed elite who don't need a job. There must be some kind of work here though, and I wish I could find it, because I've been out of work for over two years now, but just look at the traffic coming into Boulder in the mornings, and headed out of town in the evenings... gridlock. I've been here my whole life, over 50 years, and Boulder just gets worse, every day, in about every way. For God's sake, half this town would probably like to lynch on sight anyone who appears to be homeless anymore. Nice place... Hopefully my fiance and I will have enough money in a few more years to get the hell out of this suburb of California and move to our favorite sleepy little mountain town to retire, whose whereabouts shall remain undisclosed, where the people really do smile and say hi, and the tension in the air, which is thick enough to cut with a knife here in Boulder... is totally non existent.

As I write this, some one or some branch of our society is trying to strip us of our first amendment rights. Every day, we lose more of our lower profile rights... to privacy... to keep your home as you see fit... you name it. Often it's wrapped in a load of crapola given a sweet name like "Patriot Act" or falsely labeled as in our "well being and safety." It's just more difficult for the powers that be that want to oppress us to remove the high profile rights granted us in our constitution. This decision was a victory for the people, but we will have to CONTINUE fighting to keep it.
