Big Hollywood : Hollywood Actress Who Plays Sarah Palin Hates Sarah Palin

Ever since she delivered the most inept Boston accent I've ever heard in "30 Rock" and grated on my last nerve, I've not been able to stand Moore. To see her involved in such a consciously vicious hatchet job on Sarah Palin is not surprising. After all, this is the woman who proved she is a natural redhead by doing a bottomless scene in "Short Cuts" that went on for seemingly 10 minutes...classy!

Big Hollywood : Maroon 5 Too Cool for Beach Boys and Other Things We Learned from the Grammys

Nobody's said anything yet about Jennifer Hudson, who scored with a fine, tasteful tribute rendition of Whitney Houston's signature song, "I Will Always Love You". That cannot have been an easy task, with short notice and everything else going on, and she nailed it.

Big Hollywood : Samuel L. Jackson: 'I Voted for Barack Because He Was Black'; His Message Didn't Mean $%*@ To Me

Amazing - if a white actor had made similar remarks, he would be ridden out of town and drummed out of the business. How much do you want to bet there will be no repercussions with Jackson?

Big Hollywood : Oscar Nominations Announced: 'Hugo’ Leads with 11, ‘The Artist’ 10, ‘Moneyball’ and ‘War

Very dismayed that "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" was nominated, which has received some of the lousiest reviews of the year. Guess Tom Hanks still has clout, despite his recent flops. Also that Michael Fassbender wasn't nominated, despite a stellar year. Happy about Oldman and "Moneyball"!

Big Hollywood : Class Act: Mark Wahlberg Opens Up About His Catholic Faith

I realize quite well that he is not the character he is portraying and that as an actor he wants to play a variety of roles. But as a person with a conscience, wouldn't he want to appear in films that ultimately send out a positive and meaningful message to people? Now he can play the villain in such a piece or whatever. My point is that Hollywood churns out far too much filth these days and it would be nice if actors who feel the way Mr. Wahlberg does tried to take steps to turn this tide. He is only one man, and its quite a tide to buck, but to have a strong Catholic faith and then appear in a movie the Church calls offensive seems, well, hypocritical in some degree.

I'm glad Mark Wahlberg has changed the path he was on and now has a strong faith, but could he put it into practice in the films he does? His new one, "Contraband" is rated offensive on the Catholic movie website for its violence and excessive profanity. Since he has a family he cherishes, couldn't he put his faith into practice by doing family-friendly movies only? Or would he even be able to work in Hollywood that way?

Big Hollywood : Volokh Conspiracy: James Garner Set An Example of Manliness

Dramatic much? I think Garner is great and an honorable man, even if we may not see eye to eye on politics. He has a right to his opinions. Yet you disparage the entire Republican party and every candidate it may have to offer because you find some people in it extreme? Even though I find a lot of Democrats to be deluded, naive and just plain wrong, I'll never say that I won't weigh each candidate in each race and if I find the Democrat to be superior not vote for him because of his party.

Big Hollywood : Meryl Streep Is Our Finest Actress? Think Again

Big Hollywood : PTC President Tim Winter: The 'Snooki Effect' Is Real - And Devastating

You said it! The amount of "watchable" television has shrunk to almost nothing, and I'm talking about for myself, an adult male. I don't have children, but MTV, VH1 and the bulk of the rest of it would be strictly off limits if I did. There's always been stupid programs on TV, but now so much of it seems positively evil to boot, a sad state of affairs indeed.

His "apology" reeks of insincerity and his actions in playing this song were beyond the pale. Just simple decency and fairness should preclude such actions and I would consider something like this cause for termination if his employers had any concern for the reputation of their show.

Big Hollywood : Top Ten Most Overrated Actors/Actresses of All Time

Lists such as this one are valuable if only to make people question the conventional wisdom. I think DiCaprio does have talent, but he's often cast badly. I think several of his films with Scorsese would have been improved without his miscasting. Try as he might, he often ends up looking like an insufficiently mature pretender. Meryl Streep has given perhaps a handful of incredible performances, but also a lot of overly mannered, mechanical and irritating ones. When she's bad (her preening performance in "Mamma Mia" anyone?) she's unwatchable. Plus, I hate what seems to be the automatic impulse to hand her awards for any old thing she does. Tom Hanks started out likeable and engaging, then his ego seemed to balloon out of control until now he does horrible vanity projects like "Larry Crowne". It makes me gag when I hear people compare George Clooney to Cary Grant - he's not even in the same neighborhood, and it says volumes about our present-day dearth of elegance in leading men. As for the older stars, I think all contributed a good number of decent performances, but also did flawed work as well. The only one I would really agree with is Gregory Peck: "To Kill A Mockingbird" was wonderful, but he's so often stolid and wooden onscreen, though I admit I need to see a lot more of his work. I could easily add another 10 people to your list among the current crop, echoing previous references to Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Lopez, Diane Keaton, Warren Beatty, Seth Rogan, Phillip Seymour Hoffman (being disheveled and gross is great acting?), Gwyneth Paltrow, Ben Affleck. Wow, and I'm just getting started - believe it or not, there are actors I love too, but so many who I can't understand how they still find work!

Big Hollywood : Sarah Palin and Gov. Jan Brewer Make Cher Look Dumb (and Bitter)

Its amazing to me that these aging hippies in the entertainment industry, living in their elite, pampered, insulated enclaves like Beverly Hills or Malibu have the sheer gall to lecture average Americans with their "enlightened" political views. Please spare us, Cher - hearing leftist ideology spout out of your carved-up, no downright mummified mug is nauseating in the extreme! I think a lot of her bitterness is due to Sonny, who made her what she was and who was a conservative Republican. She famously hated him after their divorce until he died, when she made a spectacle of herself grieving at his funeral. Then this famously revered by the gay community diva turned against her own daughter for daring to be lesbian! Frankly, I find much more to admire in Sarah Palin's example than in Cher's.

I've lived in Las Vegas since 1962. Not personally acquainted with mafia types, ahem, but I certainly saw them around town growing up. "Casino" may not be Scorsese's best, but he did a great job of capturing the the atmosphere and the scene around here in the 70's.

Boy, Mom sounds like she was a real piece of work! And I disagree with the writer that Stone is Hemingwayesque - more like Norman Mailerish. He was another individual with modest talent which was eventually frittered away and who ended up wallowing in pathetic macho posturing - only in Stone's case its pathetic leftist posturing.
