It doesn't specifically say, but I assume Tiny Umbrella supports iphone 5 for blob backups?

The Firmware Umbrella : TinyUmbrella - New Updates with 4.1 looming...

I've got an iphone 4, was interested in trying 4.1...how do I do the update via TU to preserve the existing baseband? I don't see it in the readme or any options in TU itself?

I did read it, that's how I know about it. I was in fact, referring to the iphone4 so I should have mentioned that. Guess that means the dev team post doesn't apply to i4 users?

I thought TinyUmblrella said it supports baseband downgrades...doesnt that contradict what the dev team says?

Can someone explain what he means by they need a SSN and billing code? What is he talking about? Is he stuck at the activation screen? Shouldnt the phonebook card do the job? Or does he mean it came with 4.0.2?

yes I do have the original Sim so I am good that way. I just remember that pwnagetool wasnt compatible with the old spirit jailbreak so i didnt want to switch to spirit if it will be a bad decision in the future...

I've been using only Dev team tools for previous jailbreaks, right up to 4.0. I have never used or wanted to use a spirit jailbreak. I'm looking to update to 4.0.1 now though, should I let my itunes update to 4.0.1 and use comex new tool, or should I just stick with 4.0 or wait (if dev team ever does) release new versions of pwnagetool?

I'm slightly confused when it comes to the bootneuter. I'm trying to use expert mode so I can change my boot images, and am not sure if I should select bootneuter or not. I'm using a 3GS 3.1 with a custom ipsw already, and keeping my old baseband from 3.0 in tact for future unlocking with ultrasn0w. In my situation, what is the correct procedure? Bootneuter or don't select it? Thanks :)

I most definitely will not be downloading this. If it's not broken, why fix it? It's only bug issues anyways, no new features or anything so if 3.1 is working for you guys I say leave it alone :) One less person coming in here tomorrow sayin "my battery life sucks now" lol

yeah I hear ya, that really sucks. But...that's the chance everyone takes when unlocking. Unlocking is never really the SURE way to have constant service. It's kinda like free-to-air TV. Jailbreaking/unlocking should be considered a hobby and should not be used as a primary source of service. If it's support and service we need, then we shouldn't be touching our phones :)

As of right now, blackra1n is your only option for a day or so. Pwnagetool will work just fine, but be considerably more work, and take much longer. Since you are already at 3.1 and have the newest baseband, you mind as well just update to 3.1.2 and use blackra1n. It's a great 1 button solution that can be completed in less than 30 seconds. For the rest of us hoping to hold onto our old baseband, we will have to create custom firmwares and flash that on our phones with pwnagetool. A bit more work, but many of us have no choice for now.

I agree with you for the most part Angie, however, I do know of a person that "used" to work for Apple as an Employee, and he had a untethered 3.1 jailbrake before 3.1 was even released on his 3GS. o0 Of course, that doesn't help the majority of us...but some people really are able to pull this stuff off! There are some talented people out there!

a) no such thing as an accidental upgrade b) blackra1n can jailbreak your 3.1.2 just fine. or c) wait for pwnagetool to be released in the next day or so. Option C will require more work, and take quite a bit longer to accomplish. Probably not worth it unless you were trying to make sure your phone can be unlocked, but it is too late you already lost that benefit when you upgraded. Option B is probably the most simple and be a nice way to enter the jailbreaking scene. Remember, never, EVER update anything without checking here first.
