School athletics are important and should not be cut for many reasons. What do you think the "poor" kids will do after school? Sports keep the kids active,less likely to join gangs and cause trouble. Some kids need it for incentive to get better grades. With the obesity rate in our youth,sports are needed more than ever. Cant forget to mention character building, sportsmanship,leadership skills and maybe just maybe one of these poor kids might have some skills that would go unnoticed if not given the opportunity to play. My personal opinion is that every resourse should be made available to our youth. Cut something else and leave our future alone!
If anything, we need more teachers more help for our students. These kids are the future and it is our responsibility to give them every resourse we have available. I would rather have everything else cut in the cities, states, and federal funds. A cut to school funding affects the community in so many levels.
This is what is wrong with society today. A 13 year old child on a SCHOOL day should have been in the bed!! Parents need to grow up and take responsibility of their children.

I dont kow of anyone living extremely well on minimum wage. Not without some other type of assistance. Its not possible. In the days of $2.85 an hour bread didnt cost $1.49 a loaf and gas wasnt $2.85 a gallon.

I thought the tax hike was so we could keep the police and figher fighters. It was my understanding that if we didnt raise the tax jobs would be cut. I dont believe its fair to raise our taxes to give city employees a raise. My job has been on a two year freeze also. After a 6 month layoff I had to return with a $1.40 pay cut! Im still paying taxes!!!
This place has been a problem for a while now. On the weekends they have a $20 cover charge! No way I would pay that much with a reputation like this bar has.
