KOMO - Seattle, WA : Machinists to vote Saturday on Boeing offer | KOMO News - Seattle, Washington | News

You know this strike has hurt more people than just the Boeing Machinists and it's time to stop this nonesense and get back to work! VOTE YES!! I really don't know how much more the company is willing to give us and I don't see how people can really stay out any longer. If we are brothers and sisters shouldn't we think of other people as well... besides just our selfs?? I think continuing this will have the public really hating us and thinking we are totally crazy for turning down an offer like this. B the way Sabre.... how long have you been at Boeing? If you look at history... strikes never pay off in the end.... we always lose.

So.. tell me where do most of our plane orders come from? You need to look at the whole economic issue right now... world wide. I have it from a reliable source that there will be layoffs coming because alot of those orders that have been placed will not be able to be paid for and those orders will be cancelled. Boeing only has so much money that they can finance to the people who have bought planes who need financing now because the banks will not lend them the money due to the economic problems.

Also.. rumor has it that there will be layoffs coming soon. Not all those planes that have been order will be able to be paid for... and then what happens?? Planes get cancelled... no more revenue... jobs bye bye.

So question here.... what if that person who has to cross saved alot of money and then had emergencies that happened during the strike... i.e. a very sick child, spouse lost their job; a working spouse was killed? Would you still expect that person to not cross the line to support their situation? Why would we punish them when they had planned on supporting the strike and things happened that were beyond their control and they had to cross in the end? I don't think it is right to punish someone with penalties and not being allowed to get the same benefits once the strike was over. Afterall that person had planned on being out as long as it took, but things happened to them and it was not possible anymore. What is your response to that?

all over outsourcing.. what a joke... soon there will be no jobs to outsource at Boeing... because they will be gone...... Oh and have you read the article in the Seattle Times today about SPEEA? At least their union takes care of them... if they go on strike and we are still on strike.. they still get to work under an expired contract.. and get to collect a check and continue negotiating... read on... The union officials made clear that if a strike happens it will come in January or February 2009 — starting at the beginning of the month, to retain medical insurance for the first weeks — and only after the Machinists strike is settled. As long as the Machinists are out, "we will continue to negotiate and draw wages," said Larry Marrell, of the SPEEA negotiating team. "There's no real leverage for us to go out on the street at the same time." Wow... wish our wonderful union would take care of us this way!

I'm afraid that alot of us are going to have to do this as well. I mean really how much longer are we expected to hold out? This union is horrible, and we should be allowed to see what both sides had to say... not just one side. The union wants way to much and now they realise that it isn't possible to get everything that they have said they can get us. I'm afraid that the outsourcing issue is never going to be solved and the union may be broke over this issue because no matter how much you have saved... the savings goes away eventually and then you have no more savings... so, union... what then????

and how does everyone feel about this information in regards to SPEEA?
