I had a tetanus shot 4 years ago. I called my doctor to see if it included the whooping cough vaccine and they said no, and that I needed to come in and get the booster. The best thing to do is call your doctor to make sure what vaccine you were given. There are 2 different vaccines. The td(tetanus/diphtheria) and the tdap (tetanus/diphtheria/pertussis aka whooping cough). I want to protect those around me who are immune compromised or cannot be vaccinated for various reasons. Whooping cough is highly contagious.
