Crasstalk : LOL Feminism with Elizabeth Wurtzel

Thanks for the update on her career trajectory in the law. I wasn't sure where she was at, but knew she'd failed the bar at least twice. I was going to point this out, but unlike Wurtzel, I decided not to comment on another woman's life without proper information.

Agreed. I don't understand how anyone can't see that the opinion of "everyone does what I think, or you're wrong!" is ridiculous. Maybe if she had to make the choices that most women working a full time job and running a family had to make, her opinion would change. Then again, her lack of self-awareness is staggering, so...

Thank you. I think the Ann-Marie Slaughter cover article in the new issue of The Atlantic addresses a lot of these issues facing working women/mothers, and also calls out the feminists who disparage women who have to make the choices to dial things back a little bit to ensure they are taking care of both their personal and professional lives. I feel like there is a layer of judgmental/near "mean girl" behavior that goes on in the feminist community, with regard to the position that if you don't put career above all, you have let down several generations of women (those before you, in your generation, and in the next generation). It's unfair, and not particularly "feminist" as far as I am concerned.

Looking at the map, it's a bit farther west than I thought it was (more St. Ben's than Lakeview?). It's still not a neighborhood I am drawn to, but if I had a ton of kids, maybe I would be.

It's good to know that moving to Chicago and landing in Lakeview or Wrigleyville before you know any better isn't just limited to 22 year olds moving here. At least they can blame the Apartment People, though. What's your excuse, Rosie? Also, that place looks pretty meh.

All three of these people leave me confused as to why I am supposed to care about them, or how they continue to have "acting" careers. I can't stand how Pitt in particular, though, is cast as this "every man," down to earth, Midwestern type guy. The dude seems like a completely vapid dick, but kudos to him for dipping his quill in the ink sullied by Billy Bob Thornton of all people. Delish!

I just booked plane tickets to fly into Portland and out of Seattle a week later. The rest is pretty much open ended, but I can't believe I can have an entire week off work. My original plan was to go drink beers in Belgium and Amsterdam, but it fell through. Boo.

Crasstalk : Women, Here are Four Reasons Your Online Dating Profiles are Giving You Headaches

When I was single, a male friend of mine talked me into joining a dating site, because he was doing it at the same time. He actually wrote my profile for me, and then turned it over to me for editing. I think he probably did a better job of encapsulating who I am than I could have, and it was probably more accurate. So, it doesn't hurt to have someone else help...or at least review the profile to see if it raises any red flags for lack of self-awareness.

Crasstalk : Driving Angry Is a Sport

Say what you will about MA drivers, but at least they are fucking consistent. You know they're going to cut you off and/or do anything aggressive at all times. There's something very comforting in that, because you never have to guess what's going to happen. When I moved to Chicago from Boston the one thing that made me most nuts about the drivers here, and still does, is the inconsistency of their choices. I spend about 50% of my time on the road here screaming "JUST GO" in some profanity-laced form.

Great piece. I, too, am a fan of all things paper. Thanks for turning me on to some new artists. I will forever be in love with Rob Ryan's work, and recommend checking him out for those who haven't seen his beautiful papercuts. He has a website at http://www.misterrob.co.uk and an etsy shop: http://misterrob.etsy.com He also has a wonderful brick and mortar shop in London, which I'd recommend visiting.
