Cannabis does (I've also read) temporarily inc ones heart rate. I would just guess that one who suffers any heart condition would most assuredly want to use it only under medical supervision. I have not found or read of any incident that has actually occured however-have you? From the way media is so very biased against Cannabis, I'm also guessing it would have been headline news for days if there were such cases.
I have also read that Cannabis can Lower Blood Pressure.

I believe that after spending a Grand $1 Trillion (Tax) dollars trying to eradicate cannabis since Nixon-It's time to rethink the laws, rules and policies that govern the use of Cannabis-really, all drugs.
Oregons "annual "Drug Tab" (tax $$ investment) is about 1% of several Billion. It cost us (all tax-payers) roughly $3,000.00 per month per inmate.
I would rather see these funds spent toward Prevention, Harm Reduction and Treatment. I would actually be getting a benefit from my tax dollar investment. Crime would drop. Society would be safer as a whole.
I would love to find information that tells us how much it costs to investigate, arrest, book, house, court, legal fees etc for "busting" a Cannabis consumer.

6. By contrast aspirin, a commonly used, over-the-counter
medicine, causes hundreds of deaths each year.

7. Drugs used in medicine are routinely given what is called
an LD-50. The LD-50 rating indicates at what dosage fifty percent of
test animals receiving a drug will die as a result of drug induced
toxicity. A number of researchers have attempted to determine
marijuana's LD-50 rating in test animals, without success. Simply
stated, researchers have been unable to give animals enough marijuana to
induce death." http://www.erowid.org/plants/cannabis/cannabis_la...

"5. This is a remarkable statement. First, the record on
marijuana encompasses 5,000 years of human experience. Second, marijuana
is now used daily by enormous numbers of people throughout the world.
Estimates suggest that from twenty million to fifty million Americans
routinely, albeit illegally, smoke marijuana without the benefit of
direct medical supervision. Yet, despite this long history of use and
the extraordinarily high numbers of social smokers, there are simply no
credible medical reports to suggest that consuming marijuana has caused a
single death."

Want to know more? In 1988 the DEA's Own ALJ issues this remarkable conclusion on the safety and efficacy of Cannabis Medicine....
" 3. The most obvious concern when dealing with drug safety is
the possibility of lethal effects. Can the drug cause death?

4. Nearly all medicines have toxic, potentially lethal
effects. But marijuana is not such a substance. There is no record in
the extensive medical literature describing a proven, documented
cannabis-induced fatality.

The Ultimate Hypocrisy-Americans are being locked up for using a Plant Based Medicine that does Not have to be manufactured, mixed, altered and in it's natural form, the safest medicine known to mankind. Cannabis is no more a drug than Hawthorn, a common herb/plant used to improve ones cardio health. Why then is cannabis treated like a dangerous drug when they themselves filed patents to "protect" their right to Cannabis Medicines?

I agree. Keep Dope Illegal and De-Schedule the Plant Cannabis. If we Must continue with Costly Prohibition, then we MUST also add Tobacco and Alcohol to the Fed Sched I list. Alcohol and Tobacco alone cause more than half a million deaths annually. Cannabis ZERO.
BTW, Cannabis in Oregon is now a Sched II.

We must examine our public safety and fiscal priorities. I want a Positive return from my tax dollar investments. Don't you? No one is safer because a Cannabis consumer is incarcerated.

Thank you for posting a most sensible consideration of many of the issues surrounding this matter.
