Come on lads lets not be so negative I for one thinks the pitch looks great and keeping
the ball in the sky can only help maintain it in such excellent condition.
I think it will be 4-5-1 with Maynard wide right as has been done with Baldock in the past. Not sure if that is any better or worse than 4-4-2 with Noble wide right. Does not feel me with confidence either way.
Dave I think the majority of us that post on here would agree that booing the players is wrong and has a negative effect. I believe that most fans don't want to boo and don't want a quiet stadium. Games generally start with the fans getting behind the team but the impetus is lost fairly quickly.
Probably due to a combination of many things. we live in a society where people want instant success, a society where freedom of speech IMO is misread to mean you can say what you want regardless of the hurt or offense you may cause. Our expectations are rightly high we have the best squad in the division. All seater stadiums, distance from the pitch all factors that contribute. Away from home we have the mentality that we will be heard dispite being vastly out-numbered and therefore support the team throughout. If the team come out firing and give 100% then the fans will respond however the team need to maintain it for 90 mins and not just 20 min spells. When that effort subsides then it is the fans role to encourage them to try harder booing will not achieve that!
I have never booed a West Ham player but have recently expressed my opinions on this site. I am very unhappy about our current style of play and feel that this is an excellent forum to discuss my views negative or otherwise. I have Supported the club since 1967 and after every relegation I have renewed my season ticket so I feel that I have supported the club through thick and thin. My love of West Ham is based on a history of entertaining under achieving football, winning has never been the be all and end all for me. I can not stand the safety first, hold on to what we have got mentality that seems to be the case now. The management and players have to give the fans something to cheer about and we are a fan base steeped in a history of attacking exciting football that has been missing for far too long.
Time to bring Collins on for a striker to ensure we earn a credible draw after yet another enthralling game. Sam is the master tactition, a possible great 2 points from Watford and Doncaster, lets just hope we don't screw up his press conference by fluking a winner.
I have not been overly impressed with Nolan's all round involvement this season. There have been some positives i.e his goals and leadership but also some negatives i.e his lack of pace and the inbalace his inclusion seems to cause in our midfield. One thing that really impressed me during the Palace game was seeing our club captain at the game looking like he was kicking every ball and feeling the misses like a fan. How many modern day footballers even bother to turn up to match days let alone support their team mates. For that alone I have developed some respect for him lets hope for a captains performance on the pitch if he plays at Cardiff.
I must admit that I admire any player who will pull out all the stops to represent his country regardless of the opposition. I fully understand that he owes a loyalty to his employers but when he was signed he was a current international so we knew what we were getting.
Iain I am sure that I am not alone when I say thank you for an enthralling series of articles, not just the DS interview. I surf a lot of West Ham websites and read the main story but rarely any comments. Over the years I have removed a few from my read list, mainly due to the vile or personal comments that some people feel justified in making. I only ever comment on this site as I find most posters are much more mature in their comments and willing to debate rather than resorting to playgroud oneupmanship. I love being able to have a differing opinion to others without having to worry about getting embroiled in petty argument. Whether this is down to your monitoring or just the quaility of posters you attract, this site IMO is by far the best way to discuss all things West Ham. It is easy for me to say ignore the small minded insults on other threads as it is not me being insulted. Thank you for all your good work.
I think a straight red is a three match ban when it is for violent conduct.
For me it was obvious that a man who had just relegated Pompey was not a candidate to be our manager. I fail to see why GFZ wasn't given the chance to improve on the previous season. He had faults but the league table showed him to be better than Grant. That season there were so many comparisons between WHU an Pompey. Two clubs in financial meltdown full of overpaid under achieving players. The owners made a decision and have since realised that Grant was a mistake, I would be interested to know why GFZ had to go. Maybe given time he would have learnt and progressed as a manager who knows? Lets not forget in his first season the media were touting
that he was just completing an apprenticeship before taking the reigns at Chelski.
