But Mallory, haven't you ever been IN a cinema where there has been a giant moth, fluttering erratically around the light of the projector? And you can't leave in the middle of the film because that would be stupid and there are people on either side of you, so you are stuck in a dark room with a sometimes-visible giant moth which you keep looking for every time it flaps out of sight?

I HAVE.

Great stuff on the moths though. And I second all the anti-butterfly comments.

Yes! I loved the Whitworth and also the People's History Museum. There was so much else I would have liked to do while I was there so another visit is in order soon at least.

I wandered around quite a bit in the centre of town, a bit of Hulme and around the university, a little bit of Salford/Salford Quays... I didn't really work out where people actually live though, I was mainly a tourist.

Great! That is exactly the impression I got. I don't know how imminent this move would be really as I have a job that I really like - but my partner and I definitely want to get out of London in the not too distant future... and I am always happy to make new toast Facebook friends, I am Thora Nurkle on there!

If it is maybe possible to get onto the first page of this open thread thing, then I have a question for British toasters: do any of you live in Manchester, or have ever lived there? I'm thinking about moving there from London. Have just visited and I got a really positive feeling about it. What's it like as a city? Good place to live?

OK I already did this on the link roundup but I'm posting it again for maximum audience... I hope this is not too annoying.

If you are a London-based Toaster, some of us are meeting for board games tomorrow at Ziferblat in Old Street. Provisional meeting time is 3pm. All are welcome! Please come! (London Toasts Facebook group just in case, and no I do not know how to embed a link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/435704426638315/)

I LIVE IN SOUTH EAST LONDON! Although I rarely comment on here. I am definitely up for a meetup even if it's just a small one! I could probably make Jam Circus tomorrow (Sunday). My email is norathurkle@gmail.com if you guys are interested?

I am not a Canadian Toast but I am going to be in Montreal 1st-8th August if you feel like meeting up with someone you do not know on the basis that we will both be in the same city and both read the Toast... And I will definitely be going to the planetarium and looking at penguins.
