Also: her book is great, precisely because she DID go undercover and report on her findings. I've read a lot of books about North Korea (although I am certainly no expert, just interested), and she's right, the rest that are available in English that I have found are by Western observers told based on news reports or interviews or memoirs by escapees told to Western journalists.

Honestly, I think it's partly that and partly just forcing the Republicans to either shut down the vote (which they did) or vote against what they can portray as bare minimum gun control (I don't support tying it to the no fly list for the reasons discussed above, but I think it will read well to many). As in: dozens of people just got shot for no reason, the vast majority of Americans support some kind of gun control, and these assholes won't let us do it.

Guys, this is just a straight up whine to the universe: It's my birthday, I have some kind of stomach bug, and I am just miserable right now. Plus, I have four hours of conference calls that I really need to be on, so I'm burning a sick day and I can't just curl up in a miserable ball the way I need/want to. Whine whine whine.
