My guess is it got suspended and either JJ didn't wanna bother putting it back up because of backlash, he perhaps started to agree with opposition (not impossible considering the shift in emphasis toward gamer luna and away from molestia.) he felt creatively strangled by it and felt obligated to do it and this was his excuse to leave it, or he just wanted to play it off as if he wanted to end it anyway. My guess is it's a mix of all of those things but what we do know for sure is it wasn't his decision alone. Now I'm not the biggest Alan Moore fan, but I do think he hit the nail on the head at least about Ideas in V for Vendetta: "Ideas are bulletproof." An idea is a very powerful thing, and anything that carries an idea is powerful by extension. Thus, yes, jokes are very powerful and can indeed be harmful if used wrong. Humor and ridicule has a long history of being used to dehumanize subjugated people, after all. Don't get me wrong. Humor is a great thing, it can be used to put things in perspective or convey novel insight. But that doesn't mean humor is inherently good. It's only as ethically good as the ideas it carries. Some humor at least reinforces suffering that ultimately leads it to causing more suffering than happiness. Jokes can be great, even dark jokes and humor can be great at putting the shitty parts of life into perspective. It's just that not all dark subjects are on an even playing field. I love properly done dark humor. But exploitative humor can do a lot of harm. Also worth noting is that many unfair double standards that seem to benefit women are generally also double standards that feminists are trying to subvert as well because they're a result of assumptions about what women's "place" is. So basically, chances are, if it IS a double standard that benefits women, it's probably coming with some sort of misogynist implication as well. Calling someone a feminazi just because they wanna focus in implicit inequalities is pretty bullheaded, really. I mean, just because it's not the biggest issue possible doesn't mean it isn't needing attention, and of all places to focus attention, you'd think a show made for little girls to look up to would be pretty high on the list. Above all else, my position is more based on the fact that as bronies, we're sort of like guests in this house that was built for little girls. Probably best not to smear turdfitti in the bathroom, at least in this one house. Normally I dislike "think of the children" rhetoric but for once, it's actually about something made for children.
