Did you ever have this problem resolved? I'm in the exact same place right now as you were (are).

A Little Help - I have a 3GS that I just updated with 5.0.1 using a custom IPSW through redsn0w. I followed the instructions for updating while maintaining my baseband, and now I cannot get past the screen that says "SIM Not Valid". Has anyone else experienced this and how do I fix this? I followed both steps on iclarified, but I can't get through to cydia in order to unlock...any suggestions? I really appreciate it!

Quick question. Could anyone tell my how to upgrade to iOS5 with this new info. I have a jailbroken (Pwangtool) 4.2.1 with firmware 5.12.01 unlocked with ultrasn0w. I just don't want to upgrade my jailbreak and be stuck with a worthless phone. Thanks!

Hi All, Need some help with my brother's iPhone 4. He is heading to India (currently on AT&T) and needs to jailbreak & unlock. He is running 4.3.3 (8J2), Model MC608LL with firmware 4.10.01. What options does he have? I had the great fortune of having Frank help out with my upgrade from 3.1.3 today, and I'm hoping someone can be equally as helpful. Thanks

It looks like it worked perfectly! Thank Frank. I was having some issues with my battery, so I guess I'll just have to reinstall all my contacts and email clients & content. Unfortunately, it looks like my SMS messages are gone forever.

Hey Frank, I have updated the firmware, and it seems to be working fine. Two Questions: 1. Should I set up the phone as a new phone, or restore from a previous version. 2. I don't need to restore the unlock with ultrasn0w or anything, correct?

Should I be concerned about this warning on iClarified? The first 5 digits of my serial number are 87941****** "Important If you have a iPhone 3GS made after week 40 (2009) currently you can only perform a tethered jailbreak using pwnagetool or redsn0w. This means you will need to connect the iPhone 3GS to the computer each time you wish to restart the device. The week number is usually the 4th and 5th digit of the serial number. If you are on 3.1.2 or 3.1.3 then you should use Spirit to perform an untethered jailbreak."

Hi All, This may seem obvious, but I haven't upgraded my phone in a long time. I jailbroke/unlocked it a year ago, but now I need to upgrade (apps aren't supported, battery life going to hell). can someone tell me what to do: I am running 3.1.3 (7E18) with firmware 5.12.01. My model is MC138LL. I'm a poor student in Belgium with an AT&T 3GS that I really, really, really don't want to brick. Please help!

Hi Guys, I need some help/advice/motivation. I need to upgrade my iPhone 3GS, but I am unclear as to what I need to do. It is already jailbroken and unlocked, but from ages ago. I am running 3.1.3 (7E18), Model MC138LL with firmware 5.12.01. Can anyone help with with how I would go about upgrading to 4.0+. I don't know how far up in versions I can go, or whether I can use PWtool with a custom IPSW. The phone is starting to get a little crazy, so I think it's time to upgrade, but it was an AT&T phone that I brought with me to Europe and I don't want to screw myself by doing something wrong. I promise great karma and positive energy (if you believe in that sort of thing) for the kind soul who helps me out of this bind. ~m

I have a 3GS running 3.1.3(7E18) with 5.12.01 firmware that was jailbroken with jailbreakme and unlocked. I want to upgrade to 4.2 (downloaded already) and want to know if I can use PWtool 4.2. I saved my SHSH and created my restore 4.2 with PWtool 4.2, but I haven't put my phone into DFU and restored yet. Still nervous that I'm going to lose my unlock (live in europe with my AT&T 3GS) and want someone to reassure or point to a checklist saying I can use my restore OS4.2. Thanks!!

Hi, I have a 3GS running 3.1.3 (7E18) with firmware 5.12.01 and I would like to upgrade to iOS 4 (4.1, 4.2), but I can't find a reliable source/step-by-step guide as to which program to use or if I can even do it without bricking my phone. I unlocked it previously with jailbreakme (original) about 8 months ago and haven't upgraded or messed around with it since. I really appreciate the help!!
