@Murf
ER can say with confidence that Jesus is not coming back and base it on science just the way (I presume) you can say with confidence that Gandhi, Lenin, Hitler and Elvis are not coming back, without waiting for it to be proved/disproved in the future. People once dead are not known to have come back.
You say 'its very nature cannot be proved or disproved until sometime in the future'. It can certainly be PROVED in the future if Jesus is to come back, but when would you grant us the 'permission' to say that he is not? SOME time? How much time? After how much time would it be DISPROVED? In other words, Jesus makes an appearance : you win the argument. Would you be so kind enough as to describe the conditions for us winning it? Do we just wait indefinitely? It is you who is making an unfalsifiable claim.

The issue won't ever be decided Murf. Even after another 10000 years, with Jesus not having made an appearance, people like you will keep excitedly waiting, sure that Jesus is coming in the 'next 10 years!!!!' when he hasn't for the past 10000. What deadline do you to wish to set to 'decide' the issue? The extinction of the human race?

Yo! flagged the evil woman's blog! I am afraid we can shut her down, but cannot undo or stop the mental trauma her children are enduring.

— proponents of an overly scientific conception of evolution and natural selection — also were not invited.

PZ Myers does mention this on his blog, and goes on to say 'So the problem with evolution, for these Catholics, is that there is darned too much science in it?' What do these guys want, if not a scientific conception of evolution? Semi-scientific? Just what does 'overly scientific' mean?

I am an atheist and an aerospace engineer. We certainly do not call fixed wing aircraft 'Wrightian' airplanes. :D I read 'The God Delusion' and found that Dawkins uses the term 'Darwinian' very obtrusively. (Darwinian evolution, Darwinian explanation etc.) I think in this context, the term just implies and is interchangeable with 'evolutionary'. Do correct me if I am wrong. I think Dawkins is using the term simply keeping in mind the founder of the theory, just as we call classical mechanics 'Newtonian' mechanics. However, creationists often use the term 'Darwinist' like Darwinism was a religion and Darwin its founder. Kent Hovind once said during a debate: 'Ours is a religion and we accept it. Theirs (evolutionary biologists') is a religion too, but they deny it'. This is forced relegation of a proven and tested science to the level of a religion for force-feeding lies to gullible ignoramuses.
