IntenseDebate Notification <DIV>Do you have any idea how much it costs to purchase and permit a fully automatic weapon?By the time you've bought the weapon and registered it, you probably have at leastfour thousand dollars in the hole. If I bought a fully automatic weapon (much more costly by the way), there isn't a chance in hell that I'd risk losing it by any unlawful action- be it discharging the weapon within city limits, or brandishing in public. Civillians are only sold semi-automatic weapons. The only persons allowed to purchase fully automatic weapons are Federaly licensed dealers with class 3 permits, and law enforcement. I think I can say that if the Federal government is as useful as we hope they are, people applying for class 3 weapons permits have to undergo extensive background checks long before they can purchase said weapons. If there is any error in this system, it lies with the Federal Government. Be it a 23 round clip or a 50 round clip- the uses are the same. There is no sense in restricting that which need not be restricted. If some one comes after me with a fully automatic assault rifle, I will be relieved to know I have my Concealed Carry pistol on me. Guns are just objects, they become weapons when in the hands of a criminal.</DIV> <DIV style=\"FONT: 10pt arial\">

IntenseDebate Notification <DIV>And you are entirely entitled to your opinion, but I favor the republic. Rule of law. We're entitled to our assault rifles- so we will purchase and own them legally. Like I have said- if you don't want to own an assault rifle- don't buy one. Short of their high muzzle velocity- assault rifles are no more dangerouse than a pistol. A shotgun slug has greater chances of causing collateral damages than an assault rifle would. I think you are bothered by the name more than anything. Maybe we should pass a law that, instead of banning assault rifles, forces us to rename them. We'll call them something like \"small caliber rifles.\" Now wouldn't that seem a bit less threatening. You don't seem to have too many reasons for banning ar-15's aside from their intimidating name. </DIV> <DIV style=\"FONT: 10pt arial\">

IntenseDebate Notification <DIV>Well, I wasn't going for the full NWO conspiracy theory. Although the transnationalist movement seems very suspicious. I can say that I will answer only laws made under the United States Constitution. Remember, people who stand for the Constitution are not just defending their 2nd ammendment- as convenient as it is to make these people out as militia nut jobs- Americans stand for the United States Constituiton in its entirety. </DIV> <DIV style=\"FONT: 10pt arial\">

(just kidding) </DIV> <DIV>For better or for worse... You know, My ancestors were a tribe of Apache indians that were known for their cannibalism. I don't hide the fact that they were cannibals, I embrace it as a unique trait of my lineage. I'v also been told that Benedict Arnold is an ancestor of my grandfather's, and therefore- my own as well.</DIV> <DIV style=\"FONT: 10pt arial\">

I see where you are coming from. However, I thought it was good to share light on both the good and bad aspects of Columbus. No sense in ignoring his faults completely. Show his flaws along with his success and I think you give a deeper understanding of your history. It can get ugly.

Does anyone else feel that Barack Obama and his administration is purposely trying to ruin our country? Are there any grounds upon which we can charge them with crimes against our nation in such cases? If a majority agrees that they are commiting crimes against the American nation and there are laws in place for such actions- shouldn't we hold them accountable? If I visited Cuba- I'd go to jail upon my return. If I printed Trillions of dollars- I'd probably spend many life sentences in prison. If I gave billions of dollars in tax payer money away to irresponsible businesses without the consent of Americans- I don't think I could ever show my face in public without having to flee from an angry mob. I think I, too, see a little bit of a double standard. Glenn couldn't have said it any better- None are above the law. No law is above the United States Constitution.

My dad didn't see any sense in trying to negotiate with the somali pirates. I liked his idea more than most I've heard. He said, " I don't see why they didn't just send a Navy SEAL under water to their life boat and just have him stab a bunch of holes in the bottom. They either surrender themselves and the captain, or they all drown."

My father taught my two brothers and myself to respect guns at about 9-14 years old. He talked about how his friend was shot in the stomach with a shotgun and she had to carry her intestines in a bag for a week before she could have her stomach closed up. He later took us all out to a shooting range with a gallon jug of water and fired a 12 gauge into it without warning. We all jumped and turned to see the shredded plastic. He said, "See what a gun can do? You should never play with guns because they are dangerous. Don't point at anything you don't intend to kill." We all took gun saftey courses, and we all safely use firearms- with all the respect they deserve.

What the hell is a 16 year old doing with an AR-15? Minimum age to purchase any rifle in AZ is 18. Unless of course it's a gun purchased by their parents- in that case, they need to face some jail time for giving a weapon registered in their name to an irresponsible child. OR It wasn't a legally owned firearm and the whole enforcement of existing gun laws comes back into play. If I wanted to get a gun illegally- I probably could get one off the streets really quickly- so who's to say that criminals won't still have access to guns once the law abiding peoples are unarmed? The answer isn't more guns OR less guns- it's the effort of keeping unregistered weapons off the streets, and criminals in jail.

You don't need gun control! You need the enforcement of gun laws that are in place right now. My brother and his fiance were almost shot by a group of gang initiates but they sped away before any shots were fired. They didn't say "we need gun control" They said "We need fewer gangsters running the streets." They always keep a .45 with them if they should ever come under attack by anyone. Weapons are used in defense while in the hands of law abiding citizens, and every f*cking time you remove legalized weapons- you just give the criminals the advantage! If you don't want to own a gun- don't buy one, but leave those who do want guns to legally purchase them as they please. -Don't feel safe with others having guns? -Buy one yourself or get a kevlar vest.

Okay, there's a very big difference between rpg's and assault rifles. May I ask why it is such a problem for civilians to legally own registered assault rifles? Do you think that people just have them for criminal purposes? I'd like to know where these weapons began getting a bad name. FOR YOUR INFORMATION- In the beginning of weaponry- there were no such things as assault rifles. They were later designed so as to provide small caliber weapons that have the force to stop a criminal- WITHOUT passing right through them into innocent persons! I know the damages of a .45 acp round- let me tell you this- if I had to choose between getting shot by a .45 and a .223 - I would go with the .223! You are right- people shouldn't have bazookas in their closet- they should be kept under lock and key in a gun safe... :)

I am an American tax payer, I do not give anyone permission to cut from America's defense budget. I am in full favor of keeping the F-22. I will remain defended by our defense department, or by my own methods. What good are my taxes if they're just being spent on failed bailouts, and useless politicians? I heard the F-22 was also on the chopping block...(which is why i mentioned it) I want to keep all of our defensive power in place while still investing in new technology. I will not stand by and watch our nation's defenses become weakened.

I have wondered about that. Ask yourself, "Does this solve anything?" I know we are all pissed about the actions being taken, but we can't allow ourselves to fall to petty exchanges. We need to focus on fixing our system. I wan't to see the talk from this website become action in D.C. I'd like to see those who have turned a deaf ear to American voices stand in fear of our wrath. I want to see changes made in our favor without using violence, because let's be honest- they have been provoking a great number of Americans and we will reach a point when we will have to say "ENOUGH!"
