She's a b*tch and deserves to go to jail. She made people feel horrible for her and they gave her money to help pay for medical bills. I don't care if she needs mental help- what she did was unforgiveable.

My aunt knows a friend who has a close relative that works with the correctional institute or something or other within the system and says that they either HAVE arrested the step mom or they are VERY CLOSE to doing so. This is a reliable source from right inside the system itself. Keep your eyes and ears open in the next few days...

KATU - Portland, OR : Child again separated from family by MAX doors | KATU.com - Breaking News, Sports, Traffic and Weath

It's for safety so as the driver is pulling away, the doors don't open and people fly out onto the street. That's the only reason they don't work most of the time. The MAX train has been set to proceed to the next station, it's a safety issue. If people would be a little smarter around MAX trains, they wouldn't have issues like this.

No, this is the problem. The person involved is not taking any responsibility. BLAME is ALWAYS placed on the other person in this world today. I understand your frustration with the MAX buttons, but it is a multi-ton train that the little boy was walking next to and it's a machine, much larger than him. Hold on to the hand rail of the train so he wouldn't lose his balance? Why would he have lost his balance on a completely flat sidewalk when walking? The driver probably also didn't know that a child had gotten stuck in there, he or she probably just figured that it was someone wanting to get on the train but they were already ready to go. People inside could have also pushed the emergency button and most drivers would have came over the loud speaker. Please don't take this the wrong way, because I would hate to get separated from a child like that, but we need to all be more aware of our surroundings and stop hating on others... we all make mistakes.

it seems to me that these door buttons don't work when the driver is ready to go and has all systems go, the lights flash, the bell rings, etc. If they had closed the doors and were waiting there say, because they were ahead of schedule and needed to sit to get back on schedule, the doors would work. But everytime i've noticed someone push the buttons to try to get on, it's too late because all the signals are ready for the train to come. It's as if once they get those signals, there is no turning back. MAX trains can't just stop in the middle of an intersection or anywhere like buses to let people on. They are very "fixed" in their nature. Not too sure if this is the case, but everytime i've ridden the MAX, this is what i've noticed.

How difficult is it? WATCH YOUR CHILDREN. Especially the young ones...you are downtown on a busy street with lots of traffic. I don't care if the child darted into the train or what not...you can dart too. It just bothers me that people can not take responsibility for themselves but continuously blame others for their faults. Parents, watch your children. Please. They aren't tri-met's child, they are yours.

It's people like you who spout out comments without any knowledge or education about the political system and the struggles that people face when trying to do their job. Our President was left with a huge mess and had to begin to put the pieces back together somewhere. Unfortunately, you think he can just snap his fingers together and things get accomplished. Many of our greatest presidents, both democrat and republican, took two terms to accomplish many of their goals, yet many of them still left office with work to be done. No one is perfect. I suggest you look deep into your heart for some compassion and understanding, both of which are lacking in our country and the world.

KATU - Portland, OR : Mistake puts a kink in safety through new curves | Northeast Portland News

I agree that bikes should not be riding in the middle of busy traffic lanes. It's stupid and unsafe. Cars weight a great amount more than bikes. The city made a mistake by putting two rows of parking on Couch...way too narrow. When I take the bus, it feels like we're going to hit something. Maybe they should add a bike lane going west on Burnside since that street his wide enough to accommodate more traffic.

The school should not be involved in physically "sending" the girl away DURING school hours. That is not acceptable. Going to school is supposed to involve learning, not taking care of such personal issues. And yeah, it doesn't seem like this mother was very aware. However, it also seems like whatever "form" she signed doesn't seem like it wouldnt say exactly what she was signing. That doesn't make any sense. The school would be in a lot of trouble if it didnt say that.

This is a horrible thing. I can't believe that there are people that sick that would do something like this. Just look at the suspect - what a complete mental case. I'm sorry, but she should be locked up - no one would ever want to look at that again.

KATU - Portland, OR : Space Needle-sized tower proposed for Portland | KATU.com - Portland, Oregon | News

I do not think a tower of this magnitude fits well within Portland. We have to remember that Seattle is a much bigger city than Portland, and has much more room within it's boundaries to make such a large object, i.e. the Space Needle, work. Also, we need to remember that the decaying infrastructure of the city should take top priority.
