Big Journalism : A Bad Way To Argue For Libertarian-Christianity

" There is no need to self-segregate and doing so shows a lack of knowledge in the face of Christ who Himself and through his disciples preached unity." This, coupled with you totally quoting Matthew 10:34 out of context, is pretty humorous. So if you would have bothered to quote the rest of that passage, it would look slightly different (and would not at all be clear that He's talking about physical conflict): "35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36 And a person's enemies will be those of his own household. 37 Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38 And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. 39 Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it." I think Jesus would say that whoever loves government or politics more than Him would also be "not worthy of me." That's a complaint that many "libertarian" Christians have with those that feel we should be make our true beliefs--Christianity, not libertarianism--subservient to politics.

Big Government : The Joy Of Other People's Money

Well, the so-called conservatives in the CT Republican party rejected him for Linda McMahon because she had 'business experience.' I always find that funny when I compare the lucid, well-thought out arguments of Schiff and then compare it to the mindless trash that WWE shovels out. Unfortunately, he never got to run in the general. He would have been a great Senator. For those who want to see Schiff's 73 minute, detailed 2006 prediction of how the housing crash was going to occur: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jj8rMwdQf6k

Big Government : Gov. Rick Perry: Gun Control Means Using Both Hands

No, endorsements matter. It's not guilt by association. Charlie Crist was condemned for his support of Barack Obama. Huntsman has been criticized for calling Barack Obama a "wonderful leader" or something like that. The point is, had any Republican candidate endorsed Barack Obama, we wouldn't say it's "guilt by association." The reason I don't like Barack Obama isn't because he's on team Democrat, it's because he supports policies that are destroying the country. Any candidate who endorsed Barack Obama would be inherently lending some credence to his policies. It's no different when a Republican endorses a politician who is more in line with Democrat policies than Republican policies.

Good grief. Giuliani is not in this race. The point is that with plenty of more conservative candidates in that 2008 race (Fred Thompson anyone?), Perry decided to endorse Giuliani, a person who supported Hillary Clinton's assault weapons ban and a *nationwide* federal gun licensing and registration program. I am not trying to sidetrack the issue at all. These are facts. A presidential endorsement is a good idea of a person's priorities, and obviously Perry's prioritization of the 2nd amendment does not live up to the hype in this "article," if it can be called that.

What "substantive" information does this BigGovernment post have? It's a puff piece. They're starting do them more and more frequently and I don't like it. That's why I finally had to sign in today to voice my frustration. If we want a presidential candidate that can make off-the-cuff humorous soundbites, well then Perry wins in that department. I lived in Texas in 2006 and I voted for Perry in that election because I was pulling straight ticket Republican. I won't be pulling the lever automatically any longer--our country can't afford it. Puff pieces are puff pieces. Any substantive look at this issue would admit that Perry can say whatever pro-gun things he wants in Texas because there's no chance in hell they would infringe on those rights. But in the national presidential primary, he took a concrete *action* and endorsed Giuliani (as I say in the below post). Whatever his views are on the 2nd amendment, they can't possibly match up to this supposed "love of freedom" because we had plenty of better candidates on that issue than Giuliani in the 2008 Republican primary and he didn't endorse them.

Um, yeah. Agreed. And? Barack Obama is the worst president since FDR. But seriously, Giuliani is the worst high-profile Republican I can think of on gun control. I'm pretty tired of just waving over every fault that a politician has just because he's a Republican. Barack Obama is already toxic now and he'll be even more so come election day. If all my Tea Party compatriots were really serious about that "third party" stuff just a few months ago, it seems silly they would overlook (legitimate) criticisms and faults of the candidates.

Another thing. If Perry loves freedom so much and the 2nd amendment, why did he endorse Giuliani? It can't be too much of a priority for him if that's the case.

1888 facebook comments. Boy! That seems awfully similar to this article http://biggovernment.com/cstreet/2011/09/06/natur... which also has 1888 facebook comments! You guys better add some more Facebook likes to one or the other articles pronto before someone suggests you of Perry boosterism and faking facebook recommendations with a coordinated list or something.... Seriously, it's so unbelievably obvious how you guys have some repository of facebook addresses that you use for posts you really want to push.
