you're right. a comma splice is when there is a conjunction missing. sadly, it is also when there is no use of other punctuation (such as a semicolon, period, exclamation point, question mark, em dash, etc.) used to correctly put together two independent clauses. "But he came back" and "finished the tour with the stop in Everett." could both stand as independent clauses, if fixed. adding a comma and a coordinating conjunction is not correct. there needs to be a full stop there or no comma at all. my knowledge of grammar is perfectly sound in that particular instance. at least you didn't call me out for not capitalizing--that is getting pretty old.

i didn't change the topic to welfare, booze, taxes, or his financial statistics--you did. this is not a slap in the face at all to citizens. it was citizens (and the constant bashing) who forced him to become a recluse. now, just because bin Laden is dead, he is supposed to come out? he understands it is not his time any longer. you also said that bush is in debt to the people of the US. why is he in debt for anything? he was elected to serve eight years and he did. people blame him for mistakes made, but, in a democracy, the people are responsible for who is elected. the public is responsible for everything he did while in office. bush did all that was asked of him, whether you agree with it or not. he owes absolutely nothing to anyone, technically.
