I think it's an outrage that the religious zealotry of the city planners have created traffic jams in the city center so that no one can get in to town to have an abortion.

You're not getting it. See where I said calling athiests or christians Nazis does nothing to advance either argument? But there are sources on this if you search for them. You can do your own leg work.

"Of course it is rational to change opinion when facts demand. The thing is you may have a completely different argument in 10 years time." And? Again, explain to me how that's a negative. Are seriously using the bible as proof of your religion? Now that you can use Google, search for "circular reasoning". I also never said that the Nazis murdered BECAUSE they were christian. I'm saying that they were christians. Stalin and Pol Pot were athiests. Did they murder millions of people because of it? No. I'm saying that it does nothing to advance your argument.

Umm, I did. The text I copied was from Orwell. I thought that was obvious. A scientific theory is a framework which describes observations and makes predictions accordingly. This is what the theory of evolution is. It's not a guess or an idea. I fail to see how changing a theory to fit new findings is a negative either. Surely a rational person changes their opinion when facts change. Are you saying you are an athiest as well then? Do you believe in Thor? Ra? Vishnu? So many points to make on your third statement. Lets break it down, shall we? "Thirdly Fascism is generally thought of in its Nazi context" The Fascists were actually a different party from the Nazis. Their philosophy was built around national identity. I don't believe the manifesto said anything about the theory of evolution. "The denial of free speech. The imposition of thought processes." Again, no. You're using fascism in the epithetical sense. And it was Orwell's point that this is over-used to the point of having no meaning. "The banning of that contrary to the thinking of the ruling clique and an atheistic disrespect for human life or the values of others." Funny that you're comparing athiests to Nazis, when the Nazis were, to a man, radicalized Christians led by a man who thought he was doing god's work. Seriously, you have access to Google as well as I do. use it and stop making a fool of yourself.

Gravity is also still a theory. As is germ theory. As is nuclear theory. Do you even know what a theory is? Atheism is also the absence of faith. It's like saying that being bald is a hair-style. I do also find it ironic you use an Owellian idiom along with the word "fascist", considering what he had to say about the use of the word: "...the word ‘Fascism’ is almost entirely meaningless. In conversation, of course, it is used even more wildly than in print. I have heard it applied to farmers, shopkeepers, Social Credit, corporal punishment, fox-hunting, bull-fighting, the 1922 Committee, the 1941 Committee, Kipling, Gandhi, Chiang Kai-Shek, homosexuality, Priestley's broadcasts, Youth Hostels, astrology, women, dogs and I do not know what else ... Except for the relatively small number of Fascist sympathisers, almost any English person would accept ‘bully’ as a synonym for ‘Fascist’. That is about as near to a definition as this much-abused word has come"

Hmmm, clearly the NT are going to have to come up with some sort of standardisation formula to avoid such arguments in future. Some thing like : number of people believing in wacky idea / total population == number of sentences attributed / total sentences.

I certainly have. I value your opinion on the subject very highly. At what point does the proportion of people believing a certain thing become "mentionable" in a National Trust exhibit? 0.1%? 1%? 10%?

Well, clearly you do or you wouldn't have spent the last hour responding to my comments on the subject. And I don't see the point of mentioning it and giving it any validity at all. As I stated in my initial comment.

I couldn't care less what you think I'm like, anonymous internet commenter. I don't think a manifestly wrong opinion is somehow equal to a correct one, and just to metaphorically pat someone on the head and think "awww, isn't that sweet", is pretty condescending.
