MilitaryAdvantage.Military.com : DoD Proposes TRICARE Overhaul

It's nice how they try to put a positive twist on screwing over retirees: "building a shared commitment to health care while offering beneficiaries more flexibility and choices.” A Simpler System that would provide beneficiaries with “open access to providers and less complexity in their health plan.” Sounds like more sycophant general babble. If we had a functional Congress maybe they'd realize that they need to pay for the past two wars and raise the money to do so. Yes, that means increasing taxes above the historically low rates they've been at since the start of the Afghan and Iraqi wars.

Chaz, You're a moron! Get out of the dark ages and into the 21st century. I served 28 years and see nothing wrong with allowing gays to serve openly in the military. The only people threatened are those with little minds like yours. My wife and I have friends who are gay and they can kick butt as well as anyone else. Gay discrimination is wrong. They are people just like everyone else and they have rights just like anyone else. If you have to discriminate, discriminate against narrow-minded, simpletons like yourself!

So what new technology was economically viable when it was first introduced? Autos? No. Computers? No. Cell phones? No. TVs? No. I-pods? No. Renewable energy will be economically viable as it becomes more prominent in the marketplace and the infrastructure to support it is built up. Just like any other new technology.

I thought part of our reason for moving toward renewable energy was to reduce, if not eliminate, our dependence on foreign oil. That said, I don't see New Mexico's oil and gas industry suffering as bad as these people are making it look. Perhaps this is another example of oil barons feeding misinformation to stir up controversy. In reality, we will probably see lower oil prices in the long run which means the oil barons only put millions instead of billions in their pockets. I have a hard time identifying with people like that.

I certainly agree with what the governor is trying to do. Anything to reduce the incidence of drunk driving and punish repeat offenders to keep them off the road is a step in the right direction no matter who is enacting the legislation. Those of you who are just ranting because you don't like the governor need to find a different forum for your wails.

KRQE News 13 : New Mexico\'s school progress slips | KRQE News 13 New Mexico

Maybe we need to look at how our society has changed to create an enviroment where kids don't learn and don't graduate. Don't blame the teachers because their hands are tied in most cases when it comes to dealing with disruptive behavior and negative attitudes toward learning. They don't get paid enough to do their jobs either. Don't blame the governor because he doesn't interact with children on a daily basis. I think you need to look at what values are being instilled in our children at home and what kind of support parents give to the schools and teachers who are entrusted with education of these children. Too many parents treat the school day as free day care and don't want responsibility for their children. Education starts at home and that's where the problem is.

KRQE News 13 : Poll: Jon Stewart most trusted newsman

Way to go Jon Stewart! Humor aside, he does bring out some of the stupidity and falsehoods purveyed by influential members of society. I especially liked the interview where he exposed that fraudster from Mad Money. He also pointed out the idiocy of the comment from that Oklahoma senator who responded to new MPG standards with the statement that we were depriving Americans of the right to buy a gas guzzler. We need newscasters who are willing to challenge some of this nonsence on a regular basis.

Well, I'm glad we don't have a death penalty and anybody could rehabilitate and still become a contributor to society. However, I agree this is just another ploy by the attorney to deflect some of the negative attention away from their client.
Perhaps the police and the press should read the laws pertaining to bicycles. The operator of a motor vehicle has an obligation to avoid bicyclists and the bicyclist is allowed to operate on sidewalks (and crosswalks?) if there is insufficient room to operate safely in the traffic lane. The city has done a good of making room for bicyclists to operate on its streets. Obviously, more needs to be done.

I admired how Farrah Fawcett documented her battle with cancer. I thought it put a "human" touch on the disease and showed a hollywood personality the average person rarely sees. Michael Jackson was someone I felt sorry for.
