I believe a huge part of the problem is there is a large number of folks in the 50-60 yr old age bracket like my parents that have traditionaly voted democrat. But like many others they have no idea what democrats stand for anymore. That todays republicans unfortunately are alot like the dems. of 30 yrs ago. My parents are conservative thinking people but have no clue there old party has left them behind.

that about sums it up. Great post I 100 percent agree. I also think we should be building our military to it's largest size ever and then some more. and we should show films of our soldiers marching with tanks all over the world like the ones we see from China and N. Korea. then maybe these people would think twice b-4 pushing us around. But our commander in chief has no balls and would never do this of course....
