I see. So it took 100 cops, several of them mounted, and probably a handful of court officials to accomplish that for 27 people. I bet the police will be looking for more money this year too. My tax dollars at work.

Right but here's the reality of it all. First, several protesters backed off while police were there, and moved backin when they left. Second, the ones that were arrested were booked into an already overcrowded jail system, and liked released. So all the wonderful puffing up of the PPB shirts accomplished what, exactly, beside bringing MORE attention to the occupy cause?

KATU - Portland, OR : Conservationists ask court to stop Ore. wolf kill | Local & Regional | KATU.com - Portland News, Spo

Ah, but you're very close to touching on the main reason behind hating the wolves. Once they've killed livestock, they MUST be put down, because they've found food in a confined space, and won't naturally go hunting for dinner ever again- they'll just continue to eat the freely available food. Which makes them SMARTER than the hunters, when you think about it.... and therein lies the fear.

They don't want me on that jury. The ME's diagnosis was sepsis. Basically, blood-poisoning. In adults, it's treated in the ICU with intravenous fluids and broad spectrum antibiotics. In newborns, where the immune system isn't fully formed, it could cause death in minutes. At no place in this article did I see where Dr. Kaempf performed or even attended the autopsy. If that is, in fact, the case, then let the ME do his/her job. The fact that the prosecution and Dr. Kaempf don't want the cause of death to be spesis does not make it any less viable an outcome. Either side could produce 'expert' testimony to dispute the findings, but unless the cause of death can be overturned by a preponderance of the evidence, the ME's diagnosis is the one that should be given benefit of the doubt. But I bet it doesn't go that way because, come on, these are the Followers of Christ. They should all be in jail anyway, right?

Find a way to tell me where you are Greg, and I may be able to help. I'm a photographer, and I've done a fair amount of work with the wolves. Point being, it'd be pretty difficult for the county to say there weren't cougars if they're presented with photographic evidence. But I do tend to diplomatic solutions, so if you're looking for someone to track and photograph them so that they may be arbitrarily hunted and slaughtered, then I'm probably not your guy.

It was called in as an anonymous tip of an erratic driver. Oh, and he was towing a boat. That doesn't make a lot of difference to me, except that it reduces the chance of misidentifying the vehicle reported. The officer also admitted he had been driving. I'm with most others here. If he had been just "sleeping it off" in the truck, it would have been no big deal. However, iy seems he made that decision a bit late.

Which is precisely how the concept of one person, one vote came about. But every time the ranchers find themselves on opposite side of the majority, we hear how thing should be evened out to be more fair. I'm personally OK with the concept of "majority rules".

Oh I do- to the tune of both income and volunteerism. Words are useless without action, and one should always ask whether or not the actions we choose are the most productive solution to the current problem. I'm not against forming community watches, it just amuses me that the same people advocating that are the ones bemoaning having to pay for the services. One way or another, they're still paying for it. The difference is I do it freely, and it brings a certain amount of satisfaction to do so. ThEy do it begrudgingly, and grumble about the way things are. The choice is theirs.

That's a reactive ( as opposed to proactive ) stance. Every 'example' you make of someone will cost you $14,500 per inmate per year ( last I checked). ThT doesn't include the additional cost(s) of "more prisons, more police"- that's just maintenance costs. Meanwhile, little Johnny still can't find a living-wage job, because they're going overseas to China and India where citizens can actually afford college and get degrees. Thank your nearest Tea Partyer and the local Republican'ts. Another million in cuts is on the way for this county, and the 2.7 Trillion/ No New Taxes bill isn't even law yet! Fun times ahead! No New Taxes- Martial Law!!! No New Taxes- Martial Law!!!

Typical narrow minded thinking on the part of the Republican'ts. According to a poll by Reuter's, 56% of the public wants a bipartisan agreement.
Odd that someone with a pro-life bent would invoke due process of law. Roe v Wade has been the law of the land for decades. THERE is your due process of law. Those that are against abortion have argued to change the law as long as it's been around. That is also due process. But, for now, the law is on this woman's side- no matter how much a minority of the population wishes it wasn't.
