Ah... I get this. I live on the East Coast but I work with mostly West Coast. I cannot tell you how many times I was three hours early or three hours late for a meeting.

I thought naming the ship "Enterprise", besides being a foregone conclusion ... what with this being Star Trek and all.... was a nod to the first reusable spacecraft, the shuttle Enterprise (which was of COURSE, named after the television show Star Trek). Which makes this a meta/temporal paradox. Neat. Of course your answer could be correct.

I get why folks don't like the song. It's a pretty radical departure for Star Trek. It literally made me cry to see it again. Not because of the show, but because of the BEAUTIFUL depiction of the origins of Space Travel. Relating it to the sea, the air, then space. All those historic figures. It sent chills up my spine. And for me, the music was great. It was "the right stuff" (pun intended). I've been involved in the space business for 33 years now. IMO that opener is a love-letter to those who are still plugging away trying to make that future happen. It captures the yearning and the hard work in a way no orchestral theme could. Which DOESN'T mean it has to work for Star Trek fans. It just really worked for me.

How much do I love that Adm Janeway started drinking coffee again. And I loved her self-assessment of Captain Janeway. I DO love this crew. And they were THERE for the Captain. They were ready to lose their chance because it was the right thing. This ship may have been powered by a warp core, but it ran on loyalty. More than any other series, these guys had to rely on each other for some of the most exquisitely complicated set of moral conundrums ever. It WAS an abrupt ending. I wanted moooooooore. But I also think that the foreshadowing of the future indicates they all re-assimilate (couldn't resist) into the Delta quadrant. And I can kinda "get" the choice. We could have used ONE coda (vice LOTR's 7) but I can see how they wanted to leave that open too. I don't agree with the choice, but I can see them making it. Final Tom comment: he won the baby pool. That's our Tom.

I always watch both part together. So I'll offer only short commentary: - It's good to see the 'future' characters. I like everything but Chakotay & Seven dead and Tuvok insane. Otherwise, I think it's cool that (going in 'rank' order) Janeway teaches, Tom full-time indulged in his Holonovels, B'Elana has embraced her Klingon side enough to be an actual Ambassador, Harry is doing very well in Star Fleet, the Doc has found love (although I'm not thrilled she looks like arm candy), Miral is AWESOME, and Naomi had a daughter. - Janeway may get headaches from temporal mechanics but she was always a masochist. Waiting for the finale for full thoughts.

I unabashedly love Neelix. Is he annoying AF? Yes. But he was THERE 110% for his family, his crew. And they need him. So, I'm 'boo-hiss' for this being the end of Neelix' time on Voyager. Yes, he's off to fight the good fight and he apparently has found love in typical 42 min episode. But it's not good enough for me as a Neelix fan. I needed him to stand next to the crew and be there for them as they go through their adventures. Despite their commitment to the Prime Directive, I think Voyager has had a profound effect on the Delta Quadrant and Neelix has been vital to that. Kudos to Janeway for acknowledging that. Neelix' departure is made slightly more tolerable for me by 1) daily communication 2) being named an ambassador -- which means they had better have left him some Starfleet gear (like a shuttle) to do that job and 3) showing that Naomi had grown quite a bit and could probably handle it. So, I'm sad he's leaving. I am happy to stand alone in that position.
