Actually the only commandment regarding God's name is to not use it in vain. Contrast this with the fact that God's name is mentioned thousands of times in the Bible. The reason many people do not know this is because Jewish scribes later changed the tetragrammaton YHWH to Adonai out of fear of inadvertently misspelling it or mispronouncing it. To solve this issue they substituted God's name for Adonai (english: Lord). But there is nowhere in all of the Bible a condemnation for saying God's name.

While I generally agree with the main point of your comment I would say differnt language should be used. Muslim is not a race and to give currency to that connection blurs that important distinction.

The most vexing thing is how persistent these hoaxes become. I have encountered the "Duke Lacrosse Rape" argument at least a dozen times at work. Sometimes from the same people despite the fact that I had already shown them it was a lie. I have noticed that liberals, of every walk, have a severe double standard. On the one hand if a report supports their world POV then it is self-evidently true. If it does not then the bar for validity must be raised. I was debating with a liberal "Christian" yesterday that believes that militant muslims are not a real issue. When he asked me "exactly" how many did I believe were militant (notice he wanted an exact count as if I would know) I answered "Enough to perpetrate 16000+ terror attacks since 9/11." I linked to the site that documents every single one of these and his response, "Is there any way to verify these claims? There are a lot of Islamiphobic websites out there" So now I suppose I am supposed to fly around the world and get video testimonials from all the victims/families in order to satisfy his criteria.

It would be so much simpler if people would just be willing to state what they believe, why they believe it, and stick to that belief. I do not WANT to find common ground with pro-choice, socialism spouting, America bashing, liberals who in one breath condemn you for thinking you have a handle on truth but never turn the light of scrutiny on themselves. There are many things I am willing to compromise about but their is a reason you believe the things you believe and that is because in your estimation they are the better choice. Having said that I proudly accept my label as a God-fearing, flag waving, Bible-thumping, gun-toting, pro-life conservative.

Well there are instances where it is the "right" thing to do to intervene and decide for someone else what is right. Otherwise there would have been no Bill of Rights to begin with. There is a classic example of one group deciding for others what is right. The key is knowing where to draw the line. This is the responsibility that I was referring to before. Just like I believe wholeheartedly in free speech but also understand the wisdom and responsibility of not saying anything that comes to mind just because I can. I believe you and I are coming to the same conclusion but approaching it differently.

There is I think another underlying reason Christians support Jews in general and Israeli's in particular. It is because morally they are right in the issue concerning their neighbors. The Jewish population has contributed immensly to the world through science, literature etc. and it would be a travesty to see that bright light extinguished. Despite our theological differences we both have an immense duty to what is right. Or at least we should given our directives from God as laid out in Scripture.
