Alaska's News and Information on CBS Channel 11 News - KTVA : Joe McGinniss Fires Back at Sarah Palin - KTVA

Truth (and I use the term loosely) Hurts, It's obviouse that you are the one lacking intellect. Since your silly disparagement of me a day ago, Editor Tom Mitchell has admitted that the closing line of his editorial was completely inappropriate (which was my point in the first place): Editor's Note: While you don't see my name at the bottom of our editorials, I routinely write them, and I wrote the one that ran Saturday - the one about Joe McGinnis and the Palins' new fence. In an effort to find a catchy ending, I was a bit too creative with the last paragraph. If I had it to do over again, I would have left off the last sentence of the editorial. It doesn't add to my point, which was that there is nothing particularly newsworthy about someone moving in next door nor about a new fence going up to protect the privacy of neighbors. I certainly did not mean to suggest that McGinnis would or should be the victim of violence. For that matter, I didn't mean to suggest the Palins would do such a thing." You lose., TH. Go find something else to be childish about.

An Epic Fail, "Truth Hurts." Threat: 1. an expression of intent to injure or punish another. 2. an indication of imminent danger. 3. a person or object that is regarded as a danger; a menace. Veiled threat: implied threat, subtle intimidation. Tom Mitchell's final editorial paragraph, written as a warning to Joe McGinniss, falls well within the parameters of the definition #2 of "threat" listed above, and matches the definition of "veiled threat" perfectly. I understand that Mitchell thought he was being funny. Until he polishes up his sense of humor a little, he should probably stick to telling knock-knock jokes. Since your rebuttals lack any substance or logic, and a childish attempt to insult me is all you can muster, it's obvious that you are not very bright -- and that you certainly aren't smarter than a fifth-grader.

A direct quote from the Frontiersman Op/Ed piece by Mr. Mitchell: "Finally, those who are fond of Joe McGinnis might remind him (if he doesn’t already know) that Alaska has a law that allows the use of deadly force in protection of life and property. " It's no surprise that Mr. McGinnis perceived that as a veiled threat. Most people (even those with a fifth-grade education) would. Since your rather ignorant response bypassed any intelligent discussion of the matter, and instead went directly to personal insult, I'd say you are a pretty fair example of one lacking reading and comprehension skills of 5th-grader.

Joe, you picked an apt psudonym, because you appear to be just about as bright as Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher. I have nothing against BP making money. But unlike you, I'm not foolish enough to believe that they are somehow making business decisions based on altruism. Based on their history in Alaska alone, they will defer maintenance to save a buck, even if the odds of having a significant spill is greatly increased. You might think that's good business. I call it soulless avarice. To allow their avarice to override anything else (including protecting the environment and complying with law) is simply wrong.

Gary, I fully understand that BP's all about money. .. and that's understandable. "Lease A" Murkowski single-handedly (with Begich's blessing) stopped a measure that would have increased the oil spill liability cap to $10 billion - roughly, BP's profits in 110 days, or a little under 4 months. But apparently, you believe that avarice outweighs any social or environmental responsibility.

Dear Senator Begich: It's not the oil and gas we don't like. It's the fact that the industry, and in particular BP, places profit ahead of everything else. It's the fact that those who are regulating the industry are either incompetent, or they are in industry's hip pocket.... where it appears that you and "Lease A Murkowski" are both comfortable residing. It's the fact that the current recipe for disaster will be allowed to repeat, over and over again. BP is all about money. They only reason they will enact ANY environmental safeguards is if they are bound by a law with punishment that makes it more expensive NOT to do so. "Those affected can go to court," is Lease A's contention (and apparently yours as well). I have news for you both: You saw how Alaskans were shafted by Exxon and the SCOTUS after a 20-plus year court battle. That court case and resultant pittance paid out by Exxon will seem like a rapid resolution compared to the BP mess in the Gulf of Mexico. BP's profits are $93 million a day... $12 million per day more than the total existing spill liability cap ($75 million) is right now. In the wake of the ongoing BP spill in the Gulf of Mexico, it's disappointing and disheartening to see Alaska's senators brush aside those or demonize those with valid concerns about the safety and potential catastrophic results of deep water drilling. For what it's worth: I'm a life-long Democrat, and a past contributor to your campaign. You are a hairsbreadth away from losing my support forever.
